Paul Thompson from EWM passed along some preview photos of the newest additions to his growing 20mm Trench System.

The pieces in the shots below have just gone into production and I believe were unveiled this past weekend at EURO MODEL EXPO 2013 in Germany. No doubt Paul will announce their availability and possible promotional pricing via the EWM website… The selection of pieces already available as of this posting is impressive and worth checking out.

The EWM Trench System is designed to be held together with rare-earth magnets to create sturdy, good looking terrain that is also easy to store.

These are large pieces of vacuum-formed polystyrene and come with additional white-metal bits for added detail and customisation. These are designed for the 20mm gamer, and typical 'penny basing' is part of the plan. If you use a 19mm base for your minis, you will have no problems positioning your figures in the trenches or on the firing steps.

I gave EWM's line of 'Vac-Formed' terrain a go and found it well detailed and easy to work with. You could use these 'as is', or take the time to cut them into a deeper terrain-tile. Vacuum formed terrain like this is terrifically light-weight, the pieces I ordered cost very little in terms of postage to Canada.

These newly released pieces allow for an extensive and flexible trench-works with the addition of a communication trench and a broader selection of 'in' and 'out' turns.

This is just the sort of tempting, useful gaming kit that makes me want to give another period a go!

Infman, here are a couple of shots of one of the new 28mm Perry's Desert War Brits in the EWM trench-works.

Clearly, the parapet could be higher, but this certainly tells the story. Keep in mind, this is an unbased figure upon the firing-step, any figures down in the trench proper would be better 'protected'.

Perry Bros. Desert War Brit used with permission.

This range may be big enough to work with 28mm figures, but the interior spacing has been created with penny (19mm) basing in mind, so a 30mm figure base may have a tough time getting a good fit.

Some more pictures of the trenches showing first and second lines linked by the communications trench. Front to back is 32 inches.
