Do you have a favorite Gamera bad guy and more on topic a favorite Gamera themed figure?

Man, this reminds me that I need to hunt down the last movie in the mid-90's Gamera trilogy, those were pretty good films…. The little bugs that formed into a larger monster (I think the last beast in the pictures in the photos above) from the second movie that series is a particular favorite of mine.

Legion is the monster you think of my friend!

I am pretty old school with my Gamera watching, but I always had a weird fear of Jiger.

Anyone looking for the 90's Gamera Trilogy should look in Wal-Mart's discount Blu Ray bin. You can get all three movies for $8. USD

My favorite Gamera opponent when I was a kid was Guiron, these days its Legion.

I've always liked Zigra, he's spikey, he swims!

The blu-ray trilogy is well worth getting, really elevated kaiju movies to a new level (although I was a little let down by the third one). I believe the original films have also been re-released on DVD.

Thanks for the info guys! I'll see if I can find them. I love a giant monster movie playing in the background when working on gaming projects. Fun enough to be entertaining, but not so serious that I have to pay close attention. :)

And this forum has definitely caused the giant monster gaming bug to bite me hard; I'll have to seriously think about a little side project….

Big Zigra fan here, as well- I mean, c'mon, it's a tenguzame kaiju!

The giant squid was great, too, although I can't remember his name.

Gamera Rocks!

Stylish as Zigra is, for old school baddies I think I'd vote for Viras' spaceship over any of the suits. It's a perfect blend of weird and campy to me, and Gamera spends quite a bit of screen time fighting it, as well as its sister ship in the opening scenes. Totally outshines Viras himself. Zigra's a better looking kaiju, but his own spaceship just doesn't have the same flair.

For moderns, I'd lean toward Legion as tops. Zedus is nice too, but the Gamera design in that movie is just horrid, and that knocks him down a few pegs.

OTOH, the aerial fight scenes with Irys are simply amazing. CG or not, it's the most effective use of Gamera's flight I've seen in a film, and when it comes right down to it, being able to fly (in two different ways, even) is the thing that makes Gamera stand out most from Godzilla. Makes him feel less, ah, imitative.

Gamera is Friend To All Children and I have him right here in 55mm.

Is it just me or does anyone else see "Thor" in the Irys design?

Give me Gyaos any day. You can't beat "Rodan" with sonic disruptor chirp beam of death.
