Try and see if you can get some of the Mech Warrior Miniatures.
They can cover everything from transports to super heavies. |

Gotta be careful with the Mech Warrior stuff, though. At least in the old days, scale was not consistent. |

Dystopian are roughly 3mm. Khurasan a few good tanks that would fit the bill. They are very nice, and a great deal compared to others. Brigade models has alot of nice ones too, that would fit in good. Also if you can get them from Old Crow, they sell a variety of different 6mm turrets, that allow you to mount different weapon systems on the same chassis |

Actually the Mech Warrior stuff does scale fairly okay.
link As you can see in the above photo the Mech Warrior stuff does scale if 40K Epic stuff. Plus it is far cheaper than the GW stuff and you can find models to use for these forces, Imperial Guard, Squats, Orks and Eldar.
