Here is a M8/M20 variation I haven't seen before. Robert link link |

Robert, It's actually a Morris Light Recce Car (note 4 wheels instead of 6 wheels on M8/M20). |

They were actually obsolete as LRCs by Normandy, having been replaced in the front-line Recce Regiment LRC role by the Humber LRC (as had the Canadian Otter LRC). However, along with Otter LRCs and Humber LRCs, they were still used as HQ liaison vehicles and in the Engineer Recce role. The RAF Regiment also used them in its Light Armour Squadrons. This one belongs to a divisional HQ (note the '40' on what would be a black square). Here's another one operating in Normandy in the Engineer Recce role (note '51' on what would be a cobalt-blue square):

You are right Mark. The covered rear tires threw me off. Robert |

Hmm, I could turn a ROCO M20/M8 into one of those for my Canadian HQ

Milicast do a model of one in 20mm, so there may not be any need to turn anything into anything. |

Someone does them in 1/76th – a friend has one. |

Ah, but 20mm is not 1/87. |

Another Photo I've found. Robert
British Morris in North Africa "The Morris Mark I was used in infantry division reconnaissance regiments in the United Kingdom, and the 1st Canadian Infantry Division used them in Sicily and Italy. The Morris LRC was built by Morris Motor Company, and had an unusual configuration in that the three-man crew sat side by side, with the driver in the middle, a Bren Gun turret on the right side, and another crewman on the left with access to both a Boys Anti-Tank Rifle and a radio. The Mark I was a 2-wheel drive machine. Armour: 8-14mm. " link |
