Those interesting objects that when considered out of context of what they are make great buildings, factories, cooling towers, etc. I run my own marine electronics install/repair company and I often have unused items like alternate ant mounts and replaced items that in part or whole have interesting appeal. Pics to follow as I am on my phone. Little drink bottles that upturned make great water towers. Flashlight reflectors used for radar guns. Etc. What good stuff have you found? |

One thing I've recently discovered is using the empty Fusion razor cartridge holders for 40K cooling vents. They have arrows and even the word fusion already on them. Pics to follow. DM |

The two odd things I use are both for walls
clear razor cartridge holders. Stand on side to make interior office walls in modern/sci-fi. 3.5" plastic hard drive dummies (shipped with RAID systems) for exterior walls in modern/sci-fi. They are black and perfectly rectangular with drive dimensions. Thought of a few others
I use some odd air-conditioner vents for communications towers, some sort of medical syringe cap for trash cans and old rubber stamp handles for stone pillars. |

Moulding or trim or whatever it is that you put along the floor in your house. I use that as sci-fi walls. |

I like the new energy efficient light bulb plastic blister packs. They can be make to be anything from tunnel entryways to field generators. I am always on the lookout for weird containers that will work for structures on the gaming table. I have some odd party bowls that work great for bunkers for 25/28mm. Almost any crate board packing material I give the once over for possible conversion. I used a CD case bottom as the base for my Ion Cannon control room. Basically anything that holds a good shape is fair game if I can see a structure in it. VR James Mattes |

Plastic grave vases from the dollar store. Upside down they make for a dramatic peak on top a tower. With the spike removed they become a bit more versatile for other sorts of sci-fi/fantasy structures. |

Some strange plastic thing, shaped like a funnel but with a wider aperture at the top which is somehow involved in sink plumbing, spraypainted pewter and with hazard stickers from Hasslefree Miniatures makes a great
erm
generic hazardous waste storage unit. |

I love the relatively new shaped cardboard holders for electronics. Flip it over, and it looks like adobe domes and squares. I've got a growing stack in the basement that will either become a mummy's tomb, or Mos Eisley spaceport someday. |

I have a 50lb bag of rock collected from all over the US. |

This is the one I have that reminds me of a nuke plant cooling tower
5.5" Makes great giant monster field candy :) |

Schweppes lemonade can be found with a shot measuring cap that is perfect for cooling towers.
I make a destroyed version of landmarks at the same time. The reactor cores are green beads with a mini LED so they glow.

Golf tee + model aeroplane prop = wind turbine.

Twig you are the man. Great stuff there. Who is the last kaiju figure? Do you have broken wind turbines or just knock them down? |

A Dollar Tree glass candle dish flipped over and textured makes a great 15mm sci fi bunker. |

Thanks 28, that is Transformation Monster Zaragas. YouTube link We use Giant Monster Ken's Giant Monster Rampage rules and count the turbines as toughness 4 objects rather than buildings. They don't get knocked down, they get picked up and used as weapons or thrown. We also treat them as treacherous terrain if you get thrown or pushed into them. I want to make some more to have a little wind farm so really should make destroyed versions. |

I dont have any pics of my idea, but if you look for the cheap candle dishes(mine are a half sphere in shape),just imagine flipping one over, adding gun slits/hatches in plasticard, primer, hot glue it down to a base, texture painting and final painting it.Easy peasy.I was just at WalMart, and they were selling plastic Easter eggs, including some that that had a soccer ball texture.I think somebody had made geodesic domes out of those for 6-10mm sci-fi.You could do 2 dozen domes for under $1 USD with those. |

I'm currently using inverted tealights as turrets for ships, but they would also make excellent buildings. |

For the giant monster battle field
how about golf tees, toothpicks, and vending machine toy capsules combined to create a water tower?

Please ignore the Aliens figures, but the tall piece that looks like a giant reactor is a underground sprinkler head. It is just upside down and drybrushed. I use this as my reactor when I play GMR with my 8 inch Bandais.

I have a couple dozen from when I replaced the ones in the yard :) |
