According to the Blandford uniform book on 1812 the officers had a red coat |

Swiss officers wore the same red as their men, but they were also known to wear plain blue single-breasted surtouts which were common throughout the French Army. They were very popular as campaign wear and usually had no regimental references other than rank epaulettes and appropriate buttons. |

As artillerymna correctly pointed out, the surotut (one row of buttons no lapels ) dark blue, otherwise red as for the men with long coat tails. |
