4 part series, and if you go into the Close Captioning, you can get English subs, though not great. Also a beware, the beginning is a bit graphic.

Thanks for that will watch it later on.

Cheers,

Pete.

I finished part 3 tonight, from translating comments it sounds like a true or at least based on true events. Bad thing is English translation is poor but I'm getting the gest of it, its just sentences don't make sense or its the translation the gets in the way. Either way I'm fascinated and going to watch part 4. The other thing is my You Tube keeps stopping and can't figure out why.

Finished the other night the 4 part series. Watched GNREP8's link just now. Fascinating movie, and watched it strait beginning to end without zipping through. No subtitles which would help but not totally needed to get what's going on. Finding Russian movies is getting fun, if I could only pick up Russian which I thought of doing in High School and never did.

Was mentioning that film last night to some gaming friends – very much change the uniforms and could be Iraq or Afghanistan (wasn't there a US series about a patrol operating a road block where they accidentally shot up civilian car and then later came across one that was bomb laden). I suspect that the lot of the average US, Russian soldier fighting that kind of insurgency is very similar.

Painting 1812 Russians and watching Russian movies one would think I'd be picking some of this up.

On talk radio today the host doubted any average American wouldn't know what Chechnya was. Guess I'm not a normal American having watched three Russian/Chechnya war movies and read three articles on the two wars.

another one – very clear picture on youtube. Not speaking Russian was a bit mystified by some bits esp the Russian putting the smoke grenade in the other guys shirt and also the way they seemed to keep sticking their heads up in the middle of the battle!
