Hi, i painted this 40 figure unit of Aventine figures for a customer as part of a larger order. I have painted 3 other phalanx units and this unit is the elite phlanx,so it has been given purple armour as well as silver shields, i have not used and designs on the shields as i felt plain bright shields would more than enough helpcapture this units elite status.
Cheers Ray

Very nice work although I reserve purple for generals and monarchs.

Thanks Raglan,we do indeed lol.
Shagnasty thanks, interstingly purple was used for guard units in the macedonian srmy to show their status. The evidence comes from wall paintings and it was one very colourful army, but in the Roman army only emperors wore the purple.

His Honorable Lord Raglan; How do you know that "Tnmodels" is Irish, is it his accent on the key board?
