Disney have decided to shutdown Lucasarts
.. continuing to clear the decks for their own vision of the Star wars universe, i just hope that it will be worth it.. link |
Dn Jackson | 03 Apr 2013 2:24 p.m. PST |
Well, it couldn't really be any worse than the last (first) three movies. |

Lucasarts was the video game company. Most of the recent title from the studio that were any good were outsourced though so maybe not a loss. |

I bet we see a ton of new star wars games now. Disney is going to pimp it out to everyone. I can't wait for the Jar Jar adventure games on mobile devices

Not sad really given their only really good game was still a major let down over what it could have and should have been. |

They really hadn't been publishing and designing that many good games anyway, and most of those had been recycled to death. I still have my old Maniac Mansion, Full Throttle, Monkey Island (also on the Xbox360), Grim Fandango, and others from the 1990s. (A complete Grim Fandango box and game still goes for crazy money on the collector's market.) Those were heady days. Ok, I'm still trying to forget Loom and The Dig. ;-) BTW Disney Interactive just publishes games. Other companies design them, games like Epic Mickey and Kingdom Hearts (which are excellent). |

I really enjoyed Jedi Outcast II. I never played TIE Fighter, but have friends who loved it. What DN Jackson said. |
Major Mike | 03 Apr 2013 8:27 p.m. PST |
Well, they did make Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe, enjoyed that one. |

Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe was great fun and so was Battle of Britain. I miss games like that

The original Xwing was the first PC game I ever bought (had an Amiga till then). I was hooked from the first second with that one. Flight sims are all but dead and buried anymore though. |

It is sad to see the company that made Battle of Britain and Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe and Tie Fighter and Sam and Max Hit the Road and the Indiana Jones and Dark Forces games go, but let's face it, those were the iconic computer game masterpieces of the late 80s and 90s. They haven't done (so far as I know) anything to match that level of achievement in a LONG time. I'm still thinking about cobbling together a system (or trying out emulators) to run Tie Fighter again, though. Maybe SWotL also. I LOVED those games. I hesitate because I'm not sure if I would love them now, knowing what is now possible, and I don't want to tarnish them with excessive expectations. Doug |

For me, it's hard to go back to the old graphics. That being said, SWOTL was the game that made me switch from the Amiga to the PC. I still keep the game and all the expansion out of nostalgia :-) My other choices of Lucasarts games would be Outlaws and Pod Racer. |

I bought a PC so I could play x-wing. Addicted for months to that, then Tie Fighter came out and X-wing vs Tie fighter. Best games! |

Same here – fell in love with both SWOTL and the X-wing series, and nothing has quite matched them since. I still have my strategy guides and thumb through them once in a while. Ah, the memories! |
