Hey, with all the new hub-bub over Foundry's change of heart, and new and improved business practices, I'm thinking of ordering some Masai.

My question; did the Masai wear the headdresses when going on raids, or were they ceremonial?

I want to make an attack force of Masai, and I want them to be historically correct.

Any websites on the historical Masai?

Any good rulesets to use with Masai/Zulu/colonial forces?

Foundry had some good articles on DA tribes including them. I may have pdfs.

EDIT****I do have them. Post your email address and I'll send them to you plus any DA articles you may want. They are quite good.

According to Osprey's Warrior Peoples of East Africa the lion's mane "busby", restricted to those who had killed a lion and seen on some of the Foundry figures, was mostly worn ceremonially but was seen in battle on occasion. The feathered headdress seems to be more common and appears in contemopary illustrations of masia in battle from accounts by explorer Carl Peters.

@John Leahy: Err… You sure? Not seeing it in my inbox?

@Glengarry5: Okay good, I quite like the feathered headdress advancing pose from Foundry.

@John Leahy: Never mind found it. It was in the spam folder.
