From Friday night at the recent Hot Lead 2013 convention held in Stratford, Ontario, using Black Powder rules at the battalion and company level.

In 1866 the so-called 'Fenian Brotherhood' of Irish-American civilians, many of them veterans of the American Civil War, invaded Canada hoping to advance the cause of Irish independence from Britain by seizing Canada.

The Fenians started the game set up in the small Canadian town of Ridgeway with the Canadian full-time and part-time militia attacking onto the table at the game start while a British wing started off-table, set to arrive later in the game.

I'm looking to do this battle, but was planning on 54mm.

What figures did they use for the 13th and QOR?

I have Vronsky's book and it's fantastic.

Lots of photos!

Great pics – also very nicely done minis

I didn't run the battle, Eric, so I don't know but TMPer Sterling Moose had a hand in it so he can answer your questions probably this evening.

I did talk to him a bit about the figures and he was decrying the lack of figures wearing the short, stiff shako for the Anglo-Canadians of the type shown on the cover of the one pamphlet.

Interesting use of the Perrys' plastics.

Great stuff, I have a project I am slowly working on for Ridgeway in 15mm. Who are the guys in bearskin and red tunics? I am guessing the artillerymen who fought as infantry?

I really liked the AAR and the pictuer and captions really helped. Nice job. Eric, looking forward to when you get this ready.

Scott;
I've got all the ACW figures I need and half of the Canadians, which Ken Cliffe told me how to convert from AIP Egyptians.

I'm really, really looking forward to this project. I was hoping to start this past winter, sort of got tossed on the rocks and shoals of real life…

The trick for the Scarlet Runners and the Quickest Outta Ridgeway is that darned kepi/shako thingy. The conversions are not terribly difficult, but it does take a little work.

Sterling Moose did a great job with this and I'm hoping I can get close to that… Beautiful figures.

Pete and I will be reprising our game at the 150th anniversary conference next year.
And we will be doubling the number of figs!
Hmmmm…guess I better get busy painting!
