There are so many interesting ones out there. For me this image of the Cloverfield mites/ticks/fleas, imagined as a daikaiju would be great
for a special ability I would consider a sonic blast or vomit webbing (great splorch of sticky strands)
And for you?

I'm torn between loving the classic monsters and wanting new, weirder designs. The actual Cloverfield monster looked awful IMO but a swarm of those 'fleas' (which there is a near-beer version of for 15mm/28mm), is a cool visual. The enormous octopus/spiders from Monsters could make for good scenarios based on the movie's backstory. Similar for that huge whatsit from
that Spielberg movie with the kids and their camera and the escaped alien. Personally, I could go for some more giant robots
Mazinger and Giant Robo and Gigantor at about 4-6 inches high. Maybe those exist and I'm just not aware of them. |
28mmMan | 26 Mar 2013 9:30 p.m. PST |
Yeah, Clover was a bit special short bus
but I still like 'em a little at least :) The fleas as noted above are the bomb. Super 8 monster was fun
had a bit of Clover to him :D As for your giant robots
I am 100% confident they exist in many sizes! |
Space Monkey | 26 Mar 2013 9:44 p.m. PST |
These Khurusan Parasachnids are the ones I'm thinking look a bit like the Clover fleas:
In 6mm they'd be a nasty swarm of big'uns along the lines of Them. |
Twig66 | 27 Mar 2013 4:14 a.m. PST |
The watermellon kaiju from Tekkouki Mikazuki;
There are some cool looking Retro 50s style giant Earth Defense Mecha in Mikazuki also, this one, moonlight machine, takes on the watermellon;
I am looking for 3" figures to refight the encounters but haven't found anything yet. |
jpattern2 | 27 Mar 2013 5:15 a.m. PST |
I'm with Space Wizard, the big guys from Monsters would be cool to see. Also the big guy from The Mist. |
Spudeus | 27 Mar 2013 8:36 a.m. PST |
We still have some classic Toho critters missing. There was a web-rumor floating around that we would see a 3" collector's set of Toho's version of King Kong, Mechani-Kong and both Gargantuas, with other oddities (?). I would love that!
Kong! Get – the – ship!! |
miniMo | 27 Mar 2013 8:53 a.m. PST |
3.5"-4": Kong & Mecha Kong. I had a nice oop Kong that was stolen at a con :( 4": any of the 1970's Gojira suits. That's a big gap in the historical range at that size, there have been some smaller 2.5"-3" ones. |

Hmmm I think that is available if you really want one :( |
Space Monkey | 27 Mar 2013 2:21 p.m. PST |
Ooh! I just watched that episode of Tekkouki Mikazuki
such fun! That big robot reminds me of an ork gargant
which has me thinking Epic 40K needs more kaiju. |

The creatures from Alien
even the queen
don't really size up to things like Gamera and Godzilla
Ultraman would just stomp 'em like the bugs that they are. |
GiantMonster | 27 Mar 2013 7:30 p.m. PST |
I want figures of monsters from Godzilla the Animated Series. Trendmasters was going to release some around the time the series aired, but the line got canceled. :( -Ken Radioactive Press |
28mmMan | 27 Mar 2013 8:14 p.m. PST |
I suspect the Alien comment was regarding size relative on the table :) |
28mmMan | 27 Mar 2013 8:44 p.m. PST |
Agreed Giant Monster
the monsters from the animated series were for the most part spectacular
a real shame the figures never made it to light. link YouTube link YouTube link |

@28mmMan, Thanks. It looks like it came out shortly after I finished collecting the Superfriends in 30mm. It looks like you can get a Toyman, Giganta and Apache Chief action figure. Groovy. |
28mmMan | 07 Apr 2013 7:06 p.m. PST |
There are options for this guy, Guiron, like this nice one in 12"
does anyone have one in 4"? |
GiantMonster | 07 Apr 2013 7:51 p.m. PST |
Trendmasters made a Guiron figure that was about 4" link I only have an SD version. -Ken Radioactive Press |
Spudeus | 08 Apr 2013 6:51 a.m. PST |
I have one, from the Gamera anniversary gashapon set: link He seems a little shrimpy, maybe 3" from his feet to the tip of his blade (in fact all the Gamera guys, tho nice figures, seem a little small), but he might be what you're looking for. |
miniMo | 08 Apr 2013 5:01 p.m. PST |
I've got several different ones from over the years. |
Twig66 | 09 Apr 2013 2:35 a.m. PST |
The Evil Stare Monster from Big Man Japan.
Also, does anyone make a weeping angel statue of liberty? |
28mmMan | 09 Apr 2013 9:12 p.m. PST |
Those are both interesting ideas Twig
I assume Dr Who related Weeping Angel right? Hmmm That would be fairly easy, just a face touch up and repaint.
$7 USD to $8 USD at several online locations/dealers . . . How about this version of Biollante?
|
28mmMan | 10 Apr 2013 5:06 a.m. PST |
If we could get an inexpensive version of Mcvey's redesign of the Id Monster and or Ymir I would be most happy indeed
|
GiantMonster | 10 Apr 2013 8:05 a.m. PST |
I know they aren't your standard giant monster style monsters, but there are several monster designs from the various Power Rangers series that I would like to have figures of. Bandai seems to be making less and less figures of Power Rangers villians these days. -Ken Radioactive Press |
Twig66 | 12 Apr 2013 3:00 a.m. PST |
Furuta did make a Harryhausen gashapon range. Whenever I have seen them they are pricey though. link |
28mmMan | 12 Apr 2013 5:26 a.m. PST |
They are in the Monster Hunter price range
$15 or so. The sculpts are honorific to the originals which is nice. :) Great find and share. |
Thieses | 19 Apr 2013 7:15 a.m. PST |
konami made a a set of "modern-looking" collectable figures from the Gamera movies. Here is the "modern" Gurion. They show up on Ebay from time to time. When they came out they were about $5 USD each. They came in boxes. I got my set from Hobby link Japan
|
Thieses | 21 Apr 2013 2:11 p.m. PST |
Twig66, they did make Gashapons for Mukahzuki. I am a fan also. Here is my Watermelon monster. They show up on Ebay from time to time. link |
28mmMan | 21 Apr 2013 7:41 p.m. PST |
The watermelon guy is great
loads of character :D |
Twig66 | 22 Apr 2013 2:33 a.m. PST |
Thanks Thieses, that is great. Half the battle is knowing what exists, now it is just a matter of time until I find one. |
GiantMonster | 22 Apr 2013 5:29 a.m. PST |
I really like that watermelon monster. There needs to be more giant plant monster figures, like an Audrey II from the alternate ending of Little Shop of Horrors where it is rampagaing through the city. -Ken Radioactive Press |
