Thank you, Hans.

Hi guys,

This week, whilst whiling away my time in the TMP's cooler, in between throwing my rubber ball against the wall and plotting my next break for freedom, I made a few more feet of generic (16th to mid 19th Century) earthworks.

They are easy peasy to make, relatively cheap, and they look very effective for the combination of time and money spent on them.

Here's how:

And here's a front and back pic to show you what I'm talkin' about.

outstanding. I willbe using this idea. how did you make the corner sections?

Hi WarWizard,

I didn't. I just butt them up and fill / cover up the point of angle with a clump of lichen. That way, I can have any angles I want – if you make 90 degree corners they can only be used for 90 degree corners.

Really nice job on those. Made some just like that years ago. Didn't have the fancy pre made gabions, but I used sticks and blue foam board to make mine. The are handy to have and look fine.

You can also angle the ends of your MDF 45 degrees. That makes perfect corners, but still allows them to be used as straight pieces.

If you round the narrow ends (like a popsicle stick), you can have any angle corner you want.
