"Well, this is a little surprising. Lucasfilm – in an apparent attempt to reach the sports fan market – has released a Star Wars March Madness bracket (above) pitting – you guessed it – the Light Side of the Force against the Dark Side. The March Madness competition being played out in the bracket will be held online, where fans can vote on who should win each day's face-off. "We would be honored if you would join us," Darth Vader himself intones in a video announcing the Star Wars character tournament. "Now for my pitch: With your backing, I will win this competition and crush all who stand in my way. Together we will unleash the power of the Dark Side – and I will have bragging rights over both Obi-wan and the Emperor, which is pretty awesome." Vader goes on to relate that although he's generally against democracy, fans should "vote now, vote often, and vote Vader." But for those not really buying that crap, how is it possible to know who should win each match? With the Star Wars canon spreading over nearly four decades – and counting! – it's really hard for even the most devoted fan to keep track of who battled who and what alliances were formed. Luckily, and completely unrelatedly, there's also a new handy chart for that

I see an upset! Wedge over Luke any day. Final Four Obi Wan vs Chewy, Boba Fett vs Darth Vader. Final Two Chewy vs Boda Fett, Chewbacca for the win. VR James Mattes |

Han and Boba in the Final are my prediction. Although Vader is about as popular as Boba, he will get edged out in the end. |

Wedge go cheated I know it for a FACT. The voting is rigged. Anyway be sure and vote early and often. I have 12 computers and 4 tablets at work, I am going to vote on all of them as often as I can. VR James Mattes |

The Count Dooku vs Tarkin game has been postponed yet again. Dooku's hip hasn't healed up from that last fall, and Tarkin forgot where the match was being held
again. |

Well it is down to Yoda vs Darth Vader I think we know where this one is going to go. Much like Louisville over Wichita. Still can not believe Darth upset Boba is the semi finals. And what is wouth R2D2 over Chewy? I just do not get the Galactic NCAA. VR James Mattes |

How is DARTH VADER beating out a cool but minor character an upset? Darth Vader is possibly THE iconic bad guy in film history, and the reason (along with, to a lesser extend, Han) that Star Wars is so cool. Obviously Darth Vader should win. The only reason Yoda is even in competition is because of young folks and the new movies and the flippy light saber stuff
If you had only seen the original trilogy there is no way people would say Yoda is cooler than Darth Vader. Man. I really don't get the lack of respect for Vader among people nowadays. It's like they think those idiot new movies somehow have an impact on the sheer badassery that is Vader. |

Because Darth Vader WAS Anikin Skywalker the biggest baby in the universe next to the other cry baby Skywalker on Tatooine. Only Jar Jar is regarded with less contempt then the young Anikin. You can change your name and get bionics and master the dark side but you are still that Punk in with a 10 year crush on a Queen without a planet. VR James Mattes |

Wow, I never would have guessed that it would be Yoda in the final and then taking the win. I'm quite surprised that Han was beat out in the second round by Obi-wan. I really thought that Han Solo was a more popular character. I also thought that Boba Fett has a much larger following than Darth Vader. Oh well, the crazy little green guy wins it. |

See, we approach it differently. I have basically wiped those travesty movies out of my mind. That whining idiot boy with his stupid pod racer, and the wooden non-acting blond guy are not Darth Vader to me. Darth Vader is that guy who strode out of the smoke on a rebel ship, black cape swirling, and choked a man to death within a minute of his introduction. Darth Vader is that guy who loomed over friend and foe alike, and didn't mind killing underlings who couldn't cut the mustard. Darth Vader is that guy who is maybe the premier bad guy in movie history and who frankly was the biggest bad ass of my childhood. Those new movies were ridiculous cgi commercial-fests that do not connect to the Star Wars universe as I see it. And Boba Fett was that annoying kid with that stupid accent in the new movies
You certainly don't let that ridiculousness influence the bad ass who Vader had to give a stern speaking to about disintergrations, no? And yeah
Han should obviously be higher. Clearly there are too many young people who know Star Wars as those horrible new movies. |
