Just curious if anyone has had success using army painter paints in an airbrush (along with some type of airbrush thinner/medium)? I am new to airbrushing so I wanted to see how successful people were with these paints. Thanks. |

you can use most acrylics through an airbrush you need to thin to a 60.40 mix though 50.50 , and two coats works for me..I recently ran out of some Tamiya and thinned down some cote des armes , worked excellently.. |

What he said. Acrylic paints are, for the most part, pretty much the same when it comes to airbrushing. The only real difference is going to be how much you need to thin them to make them run through your airbrush. Ignore specific ratios, though. Every paint is different. Some will shoot right from the bottle, most need thinning. I did a video that gives a good visual on what you should be looking for in terms of consistency: YouTube link The only thing I do differently now is to use airbrush medium for my thinning. It's actually MUCH easier to thin with as you never really get the paint TOO thin. You might not have as much pigment as you want, but it shouldn't ever be so thin that it will bead if you're spraying it properly. |
