So my group and I ran a CY6! battle a few weeks ago. We had a great time and we all had a head slap moment when we realized how to use the planes strengths. link

Great looking game, and a good analysis at the end. I do Pacific stuff, and it is interesting to see the differences in the aircraft. Unfortunately I haven't played it enough to really understand all the nuances!

You found the elegance of the Check Your 6! system. Pilot quality is a major factor in the game but the ability of the plane is important as well. It is a combination of the two that makes the system great. I remember one late night with Scott Fisher, the rules designer where we hammered out the manuever charts. It was a long night but it worked out great when all was said and done.

Yes – I well remember that night. Was a five way argument with several actual fighter pilots involved. Now that was a furball!

After we got done going through out little tactics training we all sat there with dumb looks on our faces. It was pretty funny. Three 40+ year old men suddenly realizing how to play.

The only other set of aircraft rules we like is Canvas Eagles but it tends to fall apart once you get past 1916. I hope you guys are going to do a WWI book.

Yes, the WW1 rules…definately.

I have been a little late starting to play the system. I own the WWII and Jet rules plus several scenario books but hadn't played. I'm an old Blue Max player and have used the WWII conversions for it. But CY6 has so many good ideas with simple mechanics that I have jumped in. I am starting with my 1/700 and 1/600 aircraft and Litko stands. I will use my 1/72 aircraft at shows and because I like building and painting them. grin Just gotta get some Corsec flight stands for them.

Looking forward to playing. I'm starting with WWII Battle of Britain (one of my favorites).

Thanks,

John

My thoughts is that CY6 is a great set of rules. My group quickly learned that real world tactics works. I flew Hellcats and tried to out turn Zeros and lost badly. Later I read up on how which tactics which planes should use and I was almost unbeatable until my friends also read up on tactics.

Im very impressed by these rules and how reality works!
