As a confirmed 28m player, let me just say "go with 15mm". If 15mm had been as diverse when I started as it is now, I'd have gone 15mm. AFVs, walkers, ect. are by far, cheaper and more widely available than in 28mm. |

15mm is probably the way to go. There used to be some 28mm scale Battletech ranges made by the old Armorcast, but I believe they lost the licence and they were somewhat expensive. There is so much available: Buildings, AFVs, alien-types etc If you do want Mechs like the Atlas and Timberwolf, Ral Partha do 'Museum scale' mechs that nicely fit in with the 15mm figures. Additionally may be worthwhile checking sites such as: gruntz15.proboards.com dropshiphorizon.blogspot.co.uk My fave building manufacturers are: store.gcmshop.com madmechaguy.co.uk/index.html EDIT: did it just go all blank on the first post? |

It might matter what sort of 'mecha' are desired. Votoms/Heavy gear sized
or Great Mazinger? I've got a bunch of the old Jovian Chronicles and Mekton (not-Gundam) sculpts that look good with 6mm. There's also a number of plastic kits that wouldn't look bad next to 6mm or 15mm. |

There are some 1/60th model kits that would fit 28mm. Robotech/Macross come to mind. Ravenstar HAD some 1/60th kits. I think he still makes one that fits in with his Landcore line. For the price of one or two kits in that range you could field many armies (figures, tanks, Mecha, support and all) for the same price. |

The Space Wizard is right, the context the mecha is supposed to fit in is important. Are they support weapon platforms? All-terrain giant tanks? Invincible warriors designed to stand up against the Kaiju threat? |

You can buy all sorts of Mecha that would work with 28mm. Try Hobby Link Japan? |

1/60 Votoms Kits – E-Bay. You can also use 1/35th scale with a little conversion of the pilot:
There are 1/60 scale Macross mechs (Tomahawk & Defender), Gundam and 1/48 Robotech mechs too – E-bay and Hobbylink Japan are a few options here. There are also a wide range of mechs that are smaller scale that could be put to use with a small amount of conversion:
Not to mention the Forgeworld Titans. |

1/60th scale mecha are generally going to be huge. Like 9-12" tall huge. I really think you'd be better off playing in 15mm (ie, 1/100 scale), the models are much more affordable. |

It all depends what sort of mecha he wants to use. A 1/60 VOTOMS mech would be about 4" tall. The 1/35 scale VOTOMs is only 6" tall. I reckon 15mm would be a great size for mecha but if your entire collection is 28mm and you want to have some mechs to go with them, a 15mm mech is no good to any one
unless you want to convert it ;) |

Actually a VOTOMS Scope Dog is only ~64mm in 1/60 (~2,5"), a Macross/Robotech Tomahawk/Defender (Battletech Warhammer/Rifleman) is 21,5cm (~8,5"). The new Dreamforge Leviathan Crusader is also 8,5". So it's certainly doable in 28/30mm gaming, it kind of depends on where you set your sights. What kind of size of Mecha and how many Mecha
On the other hand, a 1/60 Gundam is around 31cm (~12"+). A Forgeworld Reaver Titan is 16" to the top of the shoulder weapon. 1/100 (15/18mm) is great don't get me wrong, the 1/144 Gundam kits create perfectly Battletech scaled Mechs and there are some Macross 1/100 kits. The scale is more focused on vehicles then infantry imho. And I like my Heavy Gear models in this scale. The advantage is that there is more choice in 28/30mm infantry models then in 15/18mm on the other hand, chances are that you have more options in vehicles for 15/18mm gaming then in 28/30mm gaming. |

Looks like the OP has run off, but I'll play anyway. Our club is running a 4 player "Mech Attack" game in 28mm for Little Wars this year. We're going to have a variety of mech sizes, so we're using: -1/72 Robotech Model kits: (not proper BT scale, but look good alongside 28mm figs) -Robogear Model kits: Nice for light mechs and at 8 bucks each, a real bargain! -7" Robotech (re-released with exosquad) mecha toys: Harder to find and like the 1/72 kits, they aren't exactly in scale with BT fluff, but they look good. -Kryomek striders. More nice light mechs -Gasaraki 1/35 kit: Light or medium mech. A nice kit if you can find it. Now OOP. but was less than 20 bucks new. -One of our members is kitbashing a WW2 German armored car with a set of toy robot lets. Should be pretty cool! Lots of options for 28mm mecha. |

Ordinary bass, have you looked at battlemech club? This guy does nice work for this scale mechs. I've got one on order and another on pre-order. I was going to do 28mm mech attack at a local con (HAVOC) but I couldn't gather enough mechs in time but maybe at a con in august(Connecticon) |

I saw I saw a recent advert in Hobby Japan for a 1/35ish scale GunHead mecha, looked lovely. Might do for 28mm. Regards |
