Nice! I'm painting the adventurer set now.

Those look really good! I wish they would have done more expansion sets for these boxes.

Very nice. I've got their Elves, Orcs, and their Adventurers in my painting queue. Great figures, fantastic price. Thanks for sharing. Cheers!

Excellent looking armies. I wonder if anyone knows who made the cyclops figs?

Excellent paint job. Are there UK stockists for these and the Dark Alliance fantasy figures? How do they compare, in size, to each other?

The Dark Alliance (DA) Orc Wolf Riders are close in size, both being 1/72 scale. I've got the Caesar Orc infantry, as well as the DA Wolf Riders, but since they're rider figures, it is hard to do a size comparison to infantry, other than eye-balling them -- by which they look very close in size (YMMV…).

With regards to UK stockists, I don't know. I ordered directly from Ukraine, delivered to the USA, without issue (payment was through PayPal, to a USA address/go-between company, again, without issue, other than I had to pay sales tax, as the go-between is located in my State). I received my orders (two separate orders, three weeks apart) in a timely manner (by air mail, arrived within one week, each time; tracking provided, within the Ukraine only -- after they left the Ukraine, tracking was no longer available).

The DA figures are superb (more detail, I think, than the Caesar figures), as are the Caesar (great quality, not as high a level of detail, but quite good, IMO). Both companies' products are great quality, low prices, and similar in size and style. Cheers!

Thanks all!

They are great little figures. And the 2 companies match up very well in size with each other. The Elves are "obviously" taller and more slender than the Orcs, but then, that's how I feel they should be!

I can't actually remember where I bought these from…. (It may have been my local model shop, but it was that long ago, I forget!)

Thanks again
Ryan

They look good, except for the elf ears. I've never been a fan of the over-sized elf ears common in anime.

I'm of the opinion that in this tiny a scale elves need the cat ears, otherwise it's not obvious they are elves. At any rate, they are easily amputated.

Milites: I found some of those Dark Alliance figures from a stockist here in the UK: link

At £5.00 GBP/6 for a box of 37 figures, I can forgive the oversized ears! grin

If you take away the over-sized ears, there is little to distinguish an Elf figure, from a Human figure, as they are mostly the same. In the early days of The Dragon Magazine, they ran some articles on converting/using historical figures for Elven armies, as well as Halflings, and Orcs. The author's suggestions were to use smaller scales with 25mm figures, and then employ paint to show the different races. It is a valid idea, even today, if you do not want cartoonish Elves, Orcs, Goblins, etc.

Sculpting and casting techniques have come a long way since 1980, but with 28mm tall Humans, it is hard to distinguish Elves from Humans, without resorting to some exaggeration (ears being the obvious choice). I'm returning to this idea, for many of my races, using Caesar's 1/72 scale Orcs, Goblins, and Elves. They will be played on the same table as my 28mm Humans, and I'm okay with that, as I am playing 2nd Ed. BattleSystem, and Gygax's Elves are much shorter than the 'average' Human. The proportions seem to fit better this way. At arm's length, the over-sized ears are what really demonstrates the Elves are not Human, aside from their smaller statures. Good thing we have so many manufacturers pumping out so many variations for us to choose from. Cheers!
