No it does actually fire backwards too – because the gun's so far forward the centre of gravity is, err, problematic…. The hinged grating platform on the front folds up and the crew stand on there to work the gun.

Obviously it worked (at least to some degree), but it sure does look like the gun would tear right off that itty bitty mount on the first firing.
