Hello,

I hope you don't mind me taking a moment to introduce myself. I'm Andrej and I'm part of the team behind Drake: The Dragon Wargame. Here is a link to the game:

Drake is a 28mm true scale miniature skirmish game featuring ancient dragons and their deadly minions. As the story goes, dragons from another era have awoken after a long slumber. They survived a comet impact, yet now they find themselves in a very changed world. Continental drift and a receding ice age have carved out a large continent called Dara. Various dragon species subjugated the local human populations through violence, diplomacy and trickery. With armies growing and old feuds resurfacing, Dara erupts into war and the dragons battle for dominance and resources. You can read about the story on our Kickstarter as well as on our website actiongamesminiatures.com

The game has really neat game mechanics that involve a starting deck of 7 cards that are used live while you play as well as the usual dice and tape measure. This opens up a huge variety of strategies. It's actually a lot of fun and I hope you'll check it out.

We've blown through our funding goal in under a day and have since thundered through 5 stretch goals, some of which have added more models to the pledges.

Please let us know what you think of the game. We're always looking for discussions and feedback and I'd be happy to answer any questions if you've got any.

Wow, jaw-dropping sculpts! Love the premise of the game as well. I have yet to join a Kickstarter, but this may be my first.

What a cool premise! Dragons are "too big" for a lot of games, so it's nice and refreshing to see a game concept where a dragon is the first thing you put in your army.

The first I heard of this game (months ago) the cards were going to be randomly packed – it appears that's been changed, and everything is now "open" format, akin to the model Fantasy Flight uses for their Living Card Games. Is that correct?

ActionGamesMini14 Mar 2013 9:45 p.m. PST

Hello, Hoosier. Glad you like the sculpts! These are from an earlier batch and we're looking forward to showing some others soon.

@PatrikWR, Yeah it's a pretty neat concept that does justice to what dragons should be. In Drake they are the masters of destiny and not some cave-dwelling enemy for the hero to defeat.

Yes Chief, the cards will be available in an open format. There is no CCG arms race here. You win the game by thinking carefully and strategically, not necessarily by having a powerful card. The cards are all well balanced.

I backed this Kickstarter at first sight on the strength of the sculpts alone. This is a good concept and the excitement can be felt about the project. And you communicate with us on a regular basis.

Good news that this is 'not collectable'… good luck to you.

Chef Lackey Rich Fezian15 Mar 2013 6:59 p.m. PST

Agreed. Also good to see some physical minis shots – no doubt that's helped the KS quite a bit.

Rogzombie Fezian15 Mar 2013 11:44 p.m. PST

This looks like a great kickstarter, If I can I am going to pitch in.

Marshal Mark17 Mar 2013 12:47 p.m. PST

I like the concept but only one of the three factions appeals to me – the Garrick. I'd prefer it if there were more that actually looked like "normal" dragons. The Saan dragon just isn't a dragon.

Hello Everybody – We've got a really awesome infantry shot to show you. Here are the Rivercrest Swordsmen from the Rish force. They are cast out of white metal and we're very happy with how they turned out. They feel great to the touch, they're durable and they're lightweight. I know how important it is to show that we can deliver on what we promise and I hope that this shows everybody the quality that all our final models will have. I hope you come check us out on Kickstarter!

I just stumbled upon this yesterday. Glad I did! A friend and I fell in love with the sculpts and we're splitting two army boxes and a lot of add-ons.

If anyone else wants in on this, only 41 hours left!

Splod8918 Apr 2013 8:04 p.m. PST

Going to check it out tonight and work out what I want… Very tempted by a skirmish system like this.
I love Dragons :)

Hi Napalm and Splod89, So glad you dropped by! We've got less than 20 hours to go and there's so much cool stuff going on. Here are some quick shots of some of our painted miniatures.
