and Postpones Star Wars: Detours "After months of fan excitement and upbeat rumors following Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm, it appears that the other shoe has started to drop. In an announcement on the official Star Wars site Monday optimistically entitled "A New Direction for Lucasfilm Animation," the company announced the cancellation of its successful Star Wars: The Clone Wars series on Cartoon Network and indefinite postponement of Star Wars: Detours, a second animated series created by the team behind Adult Swim's Robot Chicken.
"After five highly successful and critically acclaimed seasons of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, we feel the time has come to wind down the series," the announcement reveals, adding the somewhat confusing news that, "while the studio is no longer producing new episodes for Cartoon Network, we're continuing production on new Clone Wars story arcs that promise to be some of the most thrilling adventures ever seen" and advising fans to "stay tuned for more information on where fans can soon find this bonus content

Looks like we exchanged one for a committee of s. I.E. Look at what we did to "John Carter of Mars"! Now imagine what we can do to "Star Wars"!!! |

Cartoon Network is a Time Warner company. Disney owns ABC and ESPN. I think it's pretty clear what's up -- Disney's clearing the deck of all of Lucas' old deals, and will be re-launching the successful ideas on their own networks. |

I watch it for 2 things. 1. Anything involving clones fighting 2. finding out if they actually pull the trigger and do something bad to Asohka to make Annakin flip. I got plenty of the first one to be happy with. I guess I can love without knowing the second. |

> .E. Look at what we did to "John Carter of Mars"! Or The Avengers! The horror! Frankly, NO ONE can do anything worse to Star Wars then what Lucas did to it, ok Ule Bowe could

haywire, the result of the last few episodes which focused on Asohka, I think do have Anikin questioning the Jedi and is a start to his fall. With the additional story arcs they have said they will continue on, I do hope they explore what happens to her and how it effects Anakin. |

*DING**DING**DING**DING* We have a winner Meiczyslaw nails it. Probably bringing it to the Disney XD channel.

Look at what we did to "John Carter of Mars"! Or The Avengers! The horror! I actually quite liked both of those movies. The problem with John Carter was not, I think, the movie itself, but the lukewarm promotion it was given (apparently due to internal political wrangling at Disney). Doug |

I think John Carter just, sadly, wasn't any good. -- I think the press release made mention of a new cartoon being in the works, so hey. I doubt they are going to sit on it, even if they are going to go with their own ideas instead of the old regimes projects. -- 1313 is really the only thing I will be greatly disappointed if it doesn't happen. I thought that looked pretty cool. |

No shock. Disney XD, here we come! LOVE what they did with the Avengers cartoon on Disney XD. Hope the new one will be close. Agreed on Lucas. From a guy who grew up in AWE of the man, I don't think Disney can do worse, at least without trying. Now I need to clean my son's head of all this Clone tomfoolery. |
| justBill | 12 Mar 2013 3:42 p.m. PST |
Well that stinks. Ive really enjoyed most of The clone wars episodes. If they do move it to Disney XD I hope they do as well. |
| doug6125 | 12 Mar 2013 4:42 p.m. PST |
Well its been done well, perhaps with more depth from some characters than the latest films managed. However perhaps now is a good time to bring it to a close and yes I agree a final story arc settling the Ashoka character one way or another is definatly required – that can't be left in limbo |
| Dice Monkey | 12 Mar 2013 6:15 p.m. PST |
It's been cancelled according to the cast. link So the best we can hope for is them doing something with what was recorded already. |

If the do something else with Anakin they need to hire the voice actor again. Way better then both actors lucas hired. I think John Carter had 2 flaws. 1: They needed to have a chat with the Marvel guys about how to make people jump/land and look cool. 2: They needed to stick to one book and condense the story. When will these guys realize that slower well told stories are better then rapid fire content that isn't fleshed out. So glad the era of 3 bad guys in comic book movies is over. Well at least for marvel. Green Lantern had that problem. I'm glad the canceled the Detours thing. Not sure what they where planning for that but those guys need to stick to parody stuff. Everyone knows that Asohka has to die. Only way to lead into episode 3. Anakin is gonna go all dark side and kill a bunch of people but everyone is gonna look the other way again and coddle him. Qui Gon would have kicked that kids butt so many times he'd be too sore to get angry. |

For those of us without television, that's good news. Once it wraps up, then there will be a Compelte Series DVD. And then in 6-12 months after that, the price will drop down to my budget level ^,^ |

I'm still waiting for it to be dumped on netflix or hulu. |

"
upbeat rumors following Disney's aquisition of Lucasfilms"
?????? I must be out of the loop
As far as 'Clone Wars' goes, meh
. even further from the StarWars I once knew and loved than those hideous 'prequel' movies
Like most popular series it has long outlived its own story concept, even if we didn't know what was going to happen
What is left of the 'StarWars' concept is a massive bloated conglomerate of cliches molded into a huge pile of dead-horse and being beaten over and over and over again to the sound of a cash-register

Yea but will you still run out and buy the next 3 inch figure release and keep it NIB? VR James Mattes

Disney owns Lucasfilm now, so Pixar and Lucasfilm are part of the same company again. |

I meant the 'upbeat rumors' bit
. The general opinion among sci-fi geeks everywhere, even 'Clone Wars' fans, seems to be "$&*# Disney!"
not that I disagree, of course, but as mentioned: It realy can't get much worse, unless we start splitting hairs (which is fun). vovjvoda: Ha! I wish I had kept some of my old toys from the 70s
the prices those would fetch are amazing! I will happily buy 28mm StarWars figures that I can repurpose, however (still looking for ewoks to run in a 40K 'deathworld' scenario
) |

One of three shows I watch(ed) regularly. I especially liked the fight scenes. Story lines were pretty good too and found some scenario fodder also. Will greatly miss |

Well Bill I can see we are in an arms (or Ewok) race. I need about 40 for a Star Wars Zombie game on Endor after the Ewoks return from ten year hibernation after the Death Star Holocaust. VR James Mattes

>>>>>The general opinion among sci-fi geeks everywhere, even 'Clone Wars' fans, seems to be "$&*# Disney!"<<<<< I dunno. In my parts of meatspace and the internet, people who have an opinion seem pretty positive about the whole thing. After all, is it not said that worrying Disney will treat Star Wars badly is kinda like worrying that another iceberg will dive down and hit the titanic again? |
| billthecat | 15 Mar 2013 10:56 a.m. PST |
Perhaps
.Yet icebergs have more style and integrity than George Lucas and Mickey Mouse combined
. We may get something better than the prequels, however, for what it's worth. As far as Clone Wars goes: whatever, the 'story' has been dragged out far too long, like most successful series. Good Riddance I say, although I'm $ure it will return. Zombie ewoks? Yikes, I just want the regular kind
cannibal teddy bears with armor piercing rocks are scary enough! |
