Noticed today the the Baccus forum is down for an upgrade, does this mean that the new working one will be here soon

Be nice to welcome new members to the joy of 6mm

I really hope so. I've been waiting over a year to get on the Baccus forums.

Steve W11 Mar 2013 11:25 a.m. PST

Did you pass the rigorous background and credit check? ;)

Cerdic11 Mar 2013 11:29 a.m. PST

The shiny new forum was rumoured to be on the way soon! Is this it….?

Steve W11 Mar 2013 11:37 a.m. PST

I do hope so. It will be nice to get the photoalbum back as well

It's proving to be a VERY long minute! :) It'll all be worth it in the end though as a new forum will be most welcome.

Another one waiting to join for over a year. And i have passed the credit and reference checks. It was simple, I went up to his stand at vapnartak asked for some viking figures and offered Pete money….job done :-0

has anyone heard when it is going to be back up and running yet?

Muncehead11 Apr 2013 11:57 p.m. PST

Hope soon – they had some really inspiring posts on big-base ancients.

Not sure what is happening. Last I spoke to Peter there had been a technical glitch which shut the site down (before the new site was near completion. Migration of posts problems etc.. Throw in trying to get the French resculpts out in time for Salute, young baby etc I am not sure getting it up and running again is a priority at this moment in time. Shame really as the 6mm banter has died down a bit. Not sure if people have become active on other sites – I have tended to post on the Angel Barracks forum of late.

I have started to redo some of my threads on 6mm basing and such on my blogspot – but I too struggle between work, home, and wanting to do some sculpting, modelling, painting and playing.

Out of curiosity, where are people posting if not on the Baccus forum?

Oh I'm so glad I'm not the only one unable to access the forums. No. Wait…I'm not actually glad – but you know what I mean!
As a very new convert to Baccus (tried their figs out about 7 years ago and went "erm…not my cup of tea") I've of late renewed enthusiasm for the smaller scales and ordering ACW figs from Pete.
The forum however is a big let-down. Maybe due to the Christmas rush and backorders is why he and his faithful staff have not got around to fixing it?
Because….well…it sucks.
I'll email him now and report any news on this thread, I can't even seem to be able to register (and though not that endowed when it comes to IT I know enough to know how something like a forum should look/work…and this one just doesn't!)

Other than that….wow these little guys are a pleasure to paint! So much fun while watching Ken Burns' masterpiece I just seem to be churning them out like crazy! Spray painted in Army Painter Ultramarine, quick strokes for trousers and hats, dots and lines for packs, hands, faces, straps and weapons….quick wash…..I can flash through 24 strips in just under 4hrs! AMAZING!

And – modesty aside – due to the infamous "three foot rule"…they look kinda nifty me thinks! For someone who's new to the scale I'm well proud of how my little lead wonders are turning out (Epic and WWII being my only other experiences in this scale but that's another story…)

The Union soldiers, command and cavalry from the Polemos army packs are almost complete – and that's in three days! THREE DAYS! Wow! So I wrote Peter I need reinforcements in the form of another 72 strips of both US and CS ASAP. They're just so awesome to paint and look so good I can't wait to fight a small engagement with them, say Mechanicsville or Pea Ridge…

Stoopid bases haven't arrived yet, though… because I'd really like to see them DONE and varnished with flags, and be able to comment on how this Baccus basing system actually works in real life – so I can take some photos to share.

Pretty sure Peter will sort the forum out soon enough…
:)
