Reading Seymour's book on the PA.
There were 3 battalions in Philadelphia, all "smartly dressed" in the latest fashion. They were officered by a Who's Who of non-Tory Society.
The three battalions wore brown coats, faced in white, red and buff. White linen small clothes. Round hats with feathers and ribbons in facing colors. So, I picked up a pack of 25mm Old Glory Continental Marines over the weekend at Cold wars.
It has two command sets, so that should give me 2 15 man battalions.
For precedent in flags, I have the Hanover Associators. I will not go that route, since they were country boys, and not of the smart, society set.
I will take as precedent the flag of the Philadelphia Light Horse.
The upper canton USED to be the Union, but was obliterated in Revolutionary fervor.
I picture the flags of the three infantry battalions as following that example, but starting with the British model.
Both the white and red facings flag could have a St George cross flag with the Union in the upper staff canton. I could obliterate the canton, and perhaps add
LIBERTY in white along the crossbar, for the proper Revolutionary fervor. Or, maybe just have plain red or white field, similarly treated.
Buff, no St. George cross, of course.
Any thoughts?
((I will really have egg on my face if I read a few pages further and find actual descriptions! ))
