Wow, this is very timely for me! I happen to be painting an ADC for one of my division commanders right now so your picture is very helpful. |

Well if you need sources, I can provide some. The most important thing to keep in mind is that ADC to a General of Brigade had light blue armand, ADC to General of Division had red armband and ADC to an Army General or to a Marshal had white armband. |

Blue Max, could you provide sources where to find more info on ADC uniforms? |

Hi! I find this site (in French) very interesting : link What's important to know is : - Aide-de-camp of the generals-in-chief: white plume topped with red; white cuff.
- those of the divisional generals: national blue plume surmounted by red; scarlet cuff. See picture : link - those of the brigadier generals: plume and sky-blue armband. See picture :link |

Yes Very nice indeed. I'd perhaps put a bit more effort into colouring the horse a bit more; they generally have lighter and darker hairs top to bottom and those 'shine' quite nicely with dry brushing effects. On sources: there's any number of multiple views in just about every book on French Armies and corps; bear in mind they all didn't ride around in full dress; and the dress varied with the era and campaign. And horse furniture varied considerably depending upon the person wealth, original 'service' and whether 'patrons' were paying for their kit. An undress/ surtout with plain facings and epaulettes and no plume would be just as much be seen in both early Empire and late as cock-of-the-walk poster boys (aka 'dandies') in full dress, à la Murat etc. regards d |

>>- Aide-de-camp of the generals-in-chief: white plume topped with red; white cuff. Err no on the 'white cuff' I just noticed. Not sure who's illustration that is, but you are looking at his gloves not the cuff, which is stock standard skyblue. Also I wouldn't put much emphasis on a single plume distinctive for ADCs, if you're modelling an army or corps they will likeky be several different. If only one Division, so be it. regards d |

>>by cuff he is meaning armband Oh is he? Well, still bad description, as they were 'coloured' with gold enbrodery and a fringe once 'formalised' wear; compared to the piece of cloth/ silk worn earlier in both Revolution and Consulate. Thanks for the intervention, d |
