So, which act of defenestation is best shown in a movie?

And would we include acts of being trown out a windshield?

J Womack 9408 Mar 2013 11:10 a.m. PST

Hey! You can't talk like that in here! This here's a public market!

Caesar08 Mar 2013 11:14 a.m. PST

I've always said that the best defenestration is a good offenestration.

elsyrsyn08 Mar 2013 11:45 a.m. PST

And should you include autodefenestration?

Is that when a bunch of dudes go into the woods with chain saws and skid loaders???

pigbear08 Mar 2013 12:07 p.m. PST

Wow that went off track immediately. In case anyone actually wants a real answer, I like the scene in "The Man Who Fell to Earth".

Plenty O'toole in Diamonds Are Forever

Wasn't the Thirties Year War started by the Defenestration of Prague(two Bishops thrown out of a window into a dung heap)?
Nowadays they throw shoes…but did those shoes previously step into ..something?
OOH! OOH!…if a shoe was attached to a Britsh landmine that was disguised as camel dung(WWII), THAT would be quite a defenestration.
OR Cinderella's glass slipper was…smudged…

ok, i'm going to bed..

The one on Brisco County Jr. pilot episode.

The one in Jabberwocky, where old man Fishfinger is taking a contemplative dump out his window into the river.

Great word. I had to look it up before my trip to Prague in 2010.

I nominate the episode of Firefly where Mal is thrown through a holographic window. That was pretty cool.

Or the scene in Stardust where Septimus pushes his brother out the window at the King's prompting. Really showed how twisted that whole family was.

John the Confused08 Mar 2013 1:03 p.m. PST

Hans Gruber by John McClane out of Nakatomi Plaza.

Robin Hood Prince of Thieves when Friar Tuck pushed the corrupt Bishop out the window. That is what I thought of the whole movie!

That might be another poll topic. Most expensive defenestration.
Kevin Costner swinging through a stained glass window.

If "defenestration" is being tossed out a window, wouldn't Kevin Costner flying into a window be a "fenestration"?

Graycat08 Mar 2013 3:09 p.m. PST

The Red Dwarf episode where the crew accidentally knock Lee Harvey Oswald out of the window just before he shoots.

I have to second Plenty O'Toole's abrupt departure. Pity. She was such a nice girl. Named after her father, I think.

GR C1708 Mar 2013 8:25 p.m. PST

My fav was the one in Mel "I hate the English" Gibson's Braveheart. Sure it never happened but it was pretty good all the same.

Now for a self inflected defenestration, watch Geena Davis in Cutthroat Island when she jumps thru the window and on to the coach. Best part . . . she did it herself!

Red Dwarf is good.

How about the late Charles Durning's spectacular suicide at the opening of "The Hudsucker Proxy?"

Man, that was one for the AGES!

Did we start this thread so we could use the word "defenestration"?

The deforestration in the Avatar movie was impressive given the sizemologicalness of the trees.

Or when Cary Grant is ordered to "let go of that man" in "Gunga Din",and does so,dropping him from the upper window, and gives a shrug of "just doing what you said to do."
