A number of TMPers asked me to stage a photo shoot of my 1806 collection depicting a French square in a 1:5 ratio of figures to men. I did this by pushing two 72-figure battalions (at a 1:10 ratio) to form the 144-figure square.
Here is the same square, panning away with the camera:
To see more, click on the link below to my Der Alte Fritz Journal blog: link The French figures are from Elite Minatures, as are the Prussian dragoons in the foreground (DR3 von Winning) and the Prussian infantry in the background. The second wave of Prussian dragoons are the giant Imperialist Miniatures cavalry. They tower over the Elite figure and must be about 36mm, not quite 40mm. |

Nice. My kind of cup of tea. |

I clearly need a lot more Prussian dragoons. |

That looks great. Reminds me of a 10mm ACW union regiment at 1:1 I saw on Scott McPhee's blog. A lot of models:) |

Puts things in a better perspective. Thanks for doing it. |

I found another dozen untainted dragoons last night. I'm happy, but the French are not. |

I like the sound of untainted dragoons – obviously cannot be Prussian then :-) |
Der Alte Fritz | 08 Mar 2013 9:13 a.m. PST |
um, err, make that "unpainted" Prussian dragoons. I blame it on the autocorrect feature on my iPad. At any rate, I'm about to send in an order for another 40 or so. |

Sorry DaF – I was being cheeky. Just popped over to your blog (I have been away from it for a while – I like the AWI stuff you are doing, but it does not draw me like the Naps) and seen your Elite chasseurs a Cheval. They look really nice – and less "necky" than teh infantry can sometimes look. Very inspiring. I have not painted any CaC yet, so maybe I should. |

No worries Marc, cheeky is ok. It has really been a blast setting all of the Napoleonics on the table and getting inspired enough to start painting more. |

DAF Reminds me of some Chef de Batalion games in 15mm. Great looking troops though!! |

It doesn't look realistic. A square is suppose to be two 3 figure stands back to back. |

The sudden realisation of what 1:5 would be like to model with big Austrians battalions has set my eyes watering. Beautiful models, if a little intimidating! |
Der Alte Fritz | 10 Mar 2013 8:07 a.m. PST |
Well, if Gilder used 48 Austrians at 1:20, then it would be 96 of them at 1:10 and 192 white coats at 1:5. Yikes! |

That is really inspiring! Thanks Der Alte! |
