At last! Well done Steve – hope you find a copy and enjoy the games. Not my cup of tea, but pleased for you that you have been able to find an answer. No go and paint some figures :-) |
| Battlescale | 06 Mar 2013 8:47 a.m. PST |
Cheers Marc. Ive just stocked up on some new paints (tip to all here, don't leave your paints near a radiator for any length of time
it can cause randon acts of fury!) So I'll be getting my painting hat on again very soon. |

Steve: I have copies for sale in the web shop: link The twist in them i really like is this: when you take a morale check you roll until you pass or rout. Every time you fail though, your morale drops. Once you pass it stays at the new lower level. Very interesting mechanic. |

I have a copy of the rules and I know they get short shrift because of the name and cubist front cover, but they do include many interesting mechanisms and are very well laid out and presented. |

What scale are these, meaning are the units battalions, brigades, something else? Are they written for a specific scale, or do they include conversions for different size figures? |

@Mserafin: The represented units are Brigades. |

Just to complicate things
I think you will like these as well, they play a good game at the grand tactical level you are interested in : wtj.com/games/republique Reasonably abstract, yet complete. They take into account all the juicy bits of Napoleonic warfare : - Brigade level Formations - Skirmishers - Firefights vs Assaults - New French system vs Ancien Regime Prussian system - Command and Control, Morale, Rallying - Games produce historical results - Details on OOBs for all major armies - Lots of huge scenarios - Easy to extend with optional rules and house rules. Whole game fits on 2 QRF sheets, and they are totally free ! Main thing is to get playing, and begin the long process of adding more detail as you go. Keeping in mind that eventually – you going to end up playing Empire in the end anyway :) .. eventually ! As Marc said – get painting ! |

For Snappy Nappy, what are the recommended bases sizes? Does one base = 1 brigade or do multiple bases = 1 brigade? and if multiple bases, how many? |

For Snappy Nappy, what are the recommended bases sizes? Does one base = 1 brigade or do multiple bases = 1 brigade? and if multiple bases, how many? I believe 2 bases are a brigade. It does look to be an interesting game. |

Ditto what Steve64 said. Republique is a really interesting game, with lots of period flavour, great balance between complexity & speed, and totally free. Change/evolve the rules as you see fit to make the games more complex or to match your basing system at your own leisure. |

And there is an unofficial fan-made variant for the FPW – Sappy Nappy! |

Has anyone ever played the Austerlitz scenario that come with the rules? I have, but would be interested in other's reactions. |

Thanks Joker, glad I asked. I just ordered a copy of the rules as the reviews I've read so far look interesting. |

There is a LOT of information about Snappy Nappy on my blog at: link We will be doing an 1813 in Germany "Campaign in a Day" with SN in Manchester, CT on Saturday, April 20th (see above link); additional players are welcome. I just received word that rules author Russ Lockwood plans to attend the event! Peter |

So in Snappy Nappy a unit is a brigade? What is the ratio typically used? |
| jimchris | 07 Mar 2013 3:43 a.m. PST |
Hi Fredloan The troop ratios are listed on Gonsalvo's website. |
| vtsaogames | 07 Mar 2013 1:56 p.m. PST |
Infantry unit (2 stands) = 4,000 bayonets cavalry unit (2 stands) = 1,500 sabers artillery unit (1 stand) = 24 guns these could be large brigades or small divisions |
| Battlescale | 08 Mar 2013 6:33 a.m. PST |
Yup.. Lot's of small units on the tabletop representing larger formations. Which means I need to re=base everything Ive done so far
Dagnabbit!! |

Don't do it Steve! Have you considered using magnetic basing material, and using sabots for bases? Der Alte Fritz does this and it looks good, and is flexible. All the time you are basing you are not painting :-) |
| Battlescale | 08 Mar 2013 12:28 p.m. PST |
Lol
This is true Marc but I'll still be doing it
in between painting of course! |
