The members of the HMGS-PSW are hosting a General Quarters battleship miniature tabletop errr decktop game on Friday, March 22nd before March Forward. The event will be held aboard the USS IOWA in San Pedro. San Pedro is part of the Los Angeles harbor complex is about 10 miles from Manhattan Beach.

I visited the USS IOWA on Saturday and talked to the staff about our visit. They are enthusiastic about us been there and have allotted us the fantail of the historic battleship to lay out our cloth ocean.

The space is large enough to launch an Osprey from, or land a helicopter! approximately 2500 square feet, or significantly larger than our hall. There are plans to add a tent to the fantail similar to the one on the USS Missouri in Pearl Harbor.
We will be playing a General Quarters game that pits, what else, WWII battleships in a scenario that is sure to feature the Iowa. The event will start at noon so the early arrivals can tour the ship for two hours before the game. We will finish at 4 pm and then tour the ship until it closes at 6:00PM. After that we are heading over to Ports O Call Village for some fresh seafood and a nightcap. This should make a great lead in to our March Forward! historical miniature and board game convention at the Manhattan Beach National Guard Armory.

The battleship tour costs $18 USD USD for adults but there will be a discount code available for HMGS-PSW members.
Dinner will be about $20 USD USD depending on what you order. There are tons of inexpensive places nearby, but I save up to live large on convention weekends!
March Forward! costs $15 USD USD for a whole day of gaming, with meals costing around $7. USD USD HMGS-PSW members get a $5 USD USD discount on admission and a $1 USD USD discount on meals.
Membership in the Historical Miniature Gaming Society-Pacific Southwest is $20 USD USD a year.

Local economy motel if you want to make a weekend of it. This place is about 2 miles from the National Guard Armory. I check out the rooms and they appear clean and comfortable. They are not cheap, being two miles from the beach, but if you bunk with friends convention style staying in town can make for a much more relaxing weekend.

I hope to see you there. The Preliminary Events Lists will follow.

Very, very cool. This is the first thing that has made me want to visit California in a long time.
