…and vehicle. There'll be lots of these posted over the next few weeks I'm sure so I thought I'd play about with the versatility of the trooper and accessory sets and of the medium Mark has chosen (IMHO so much better than that plastic /resin stuff) and do a few conversions. The seated figures and the trooper about to board are all minor conversions and the one standing on the cargo bed (missing his 'binoculars') is basically 'out of the box' with additions from the accessories set. Shoulder guards have still to be added and the heads are loose to allow painting seperately. A few, very fine mould lines to remove then its cleaning and primer.

there's a couple more pics on the blog (apologies for the inferior quality) if you're interested link

Very nice.

Who makes the jeep?

Really! Surprised you haven't seen it. Antenociti

That is really cool. I've never seen the russ jeep in open topped configuration. I didn't even recognize it!

PJ Parent05 Mar 2013 3:02 p.m. PST

It looks really good open topped with a plain colour.

Jovian105 Mar 2013 5:05 p.m. PST

The guy standing in the jeep seems to be saying: "Yeah! It was THIS BIG!"

Nice figures and good match with the jeep.

Great looking!

Open-topped 'Bear' looks pretty cool. Here's one I did a while ago…

Wow, can't wait to see those come together Dwartist. Have you let Mark know you are about to work some up? I'm sure he would love to have some pics of superbly painted miniatures of his to show off.

N/M I see he knows all about the work you're doing.

Wolfprophet06 Mar 2013 6:52 p.m. PST

Mark must know. He posted a link to Dwartist's blog on his facebook page.

That is some beautiful work…. someday… I want to be that good.

Recieved my order this week and put in another order almost straight away, really blown away by how good they are and the potential for conversions is immense. Using the quad mount from the support weapons on the armed version of the Bear can't wait for the apc to be released.

Those heads look fantastic, realy subtle skin tones, do you think they'd be compatible size wise with copplestone's troopers?

dwartist15 Mar 2013 6:29 a.m. PST

sorry – don't have any Copplestone figures. Any others?

HAHA – John you have to believe that you're one of my '28mm heroes' – a lot of my vehicle painting began with studying yours!

Driver…had to use a new bottle of the base colour, Vallejo London Grey, and it's lighter and more matt! I quite like it though so will go with it. Driver's not quite finished and his head is not positioned permanantly yet.

Stunning work. If I may, what color and technique are you using for your chipping? It looks a lot like the "chipping color" from AK Interactive, applied with brush and sponge.

dwartist03 Apr 2013 9:32 a.m. PST

Well spotted for the technique both brush and sponge but the color is Vallejo German Cam Black/Brown.I'll add some Dark Rust with a brush to the centres of the larger chips too – gives it more of a three-dimensional feel.

Your Eisenkern stuff is simply outstanding!
I've got to try the London Grey approach as well, mine came out too dark.

Keep'em coming!!

Wow! Stunning work sir!
But damn you too, as now I must buy some of those wonderful miniatures :-P

(I make fun of others)06 May 2013 7:19 a.m. PST

Fantastic painting on the models. I'm not really sold on them though, although I'd like to be. It's obvious they were expertly designed and professionally cast, but the aesthetic on the models appears to be confused.

For instance, the bodies of the infantry have a very no nonsense, hard sci fi feel, but the heads -- tie fighter pilot masks with German helmets? That's so odd.

Feel the same way about the mecha. They look like they don't know what they want to be, gothic or hard-sci fi, like they're trying to cover all the bases but not covering any. The models just don't gel to me as viable in appearance.

Um, actually, it's so *anime:*

What sells me on them even though I'm steering away from 28mm in favor of 15mm and my 20mm sic-fi roots is that the heads are separate parts, so if anyone has tried to fit these with Pig Iron heads (for example), I'd like to see some pixs…evil grin

Failing that, I may pick up a set or three on principle and do them as *Finns innn spaaaace!*

Lion in the Stars09 May 2013 3:29 p.m. PST

The gasmask and Stahlhelm is pretty popular as an image concept in Japan. You start with the Kerberos (Jin-Roh, Stray Dog). It's picked up in PatLabor, too.

Oh, and Jin-Roh is grim. Insurgencies always are, but… ouch.

Richard Gaulding10 May 2013 2:31 a.m. PST

Poor porfirio,

He doesn't realize that Leland is pretty much impervious to trolling ;)

Except it's not a gas mask. We all know what it is, right down to some of the small details.

picture

It's such a strange choice of styles to blend together.

Sorry to disappoint Richard Gaulding, but stating then defending your opinion is not trolling. Calling someone a troll here is a DH offence so tread carefully.

dwartist10 May 2013 10:33 a.m. PST

Can't really see what the problem is…don't like them? Don't buy them. Always worked for me. I feel I should point out though that the heads are seperate and could always be replaced.
