I was wondering if anyone has seen these ranges in person and could give their thoughts on them, and their compatibility. Pictures would be excellent. |

You can find pictures of most of the Heroics and Ros figures here: link There are also a few comparison shots of Irregular Troops. You can also find some really fine painted examples of Heroics troops elsewhere on the same site: link
I think they look really impressive when painted and based like this. |

Thanks, that's very helpful. |

These see an outing quite regularly using the Maximillian rules (actually our own version of them) and my opponent fields a Venetian and an Ottoman army of Irregular figures. Whilst I wouldn't put them on the same base They aren't so far apart that you'd kick them off the same battlefield or even the same army if you are stuck for a figure type. It is one of the better ranges of IM's 6mm – some of the pikemen are particularly good but some of the mounted stuff is just about servicable. You can happily mix stuff from the H&R Wars of the Roses and Renaissance ranges and also bits from some other ranges (such as Xbows & spearmen) work fine. Some of my arquebusiers & pikes are from the ECW range. Tony of Tiny Tin Troops |

The two do mix well. What I would say is that the irregular infantry are very good, but because they come on bases you need to think through the game system you are using as for example the handgunners dont fit a FoG base so well but the Pikes can be packed in to the bases nicely. The H&R Cavalry are a cut above the Irregular as you can see from the photo above. The Baccus WoTR range will probably serve as well for some troop types and I really like their ranges |

@GildasFacit Hi Tony, Sorry for making the post without crediting you. I didn't realise it was your site. I think your armies look wonderful. It is very impressive painting. Best wishes Stephen |

No problem Stephen, my name is all over the site anyway. I wouldn't have put my own gaming stuff on the commercial site except that it just turned out better that way. Access is good and I have no limits that can slow access down and it doesn't cost me any extra to host it all in the same place. The only real problem with H&R stuff is that they can be a bit fragile so base with a gap around the edge so you have room to grasp the base without putting pressure on the figures. They are quick to paint but don't have any more detail that is strictly necessary and they look good en-masse. |
