A deep purple – more red/brown than blue when used in heraldic devices here in the UK. The colour may vary somewhat in continental use. In practice a difficult colour to dye with any reliability at the time – probably comes out a quite weak and dull purplish brown. |

I painted some Edward IV bowmen for front ranks WOTR gallery. If the murrey on them looks right to you then i mixed about 70% dark red with about 30% vallejo royal purple for base,then vallejo flat red and foundry light purple for middle highlight then foundry light red and foundry light purple for highlight. All with roughly the same 70 to 30% ratio Hope this helps |
