Thought I would post some Dirtside links and resources for those who would be interested in some House Rules and Errata. Some of them you may already know about. Feel free to add to the list. Robert

DS2 Quick Draw. Utility for drawing Chits in Dirtside 2. This can be useful if you want to speed up the game. Provide that you have access to a PC near the gaming table or a laptop. This app is VERY small and should be able to run with older PC.

That fifth link in the list from Kaoschallenged is a very comprehensive and well-thought-out collection that I have used frequently myself.

i remember years ago a DSIII was being proposed, does anyone know if anything is ever going to happen with this. I think one of the proposed changes was doing away with chits and altering the design rules, but its so long ago now I can remember

A re-written, re-released Dirtside, Full Thrust, and Stargrunt has been bandied about for the past twelve years at least. I'm thinking if it happens at all, don't hold your breath waiting for it.

The system that needs the most comprehensive re-write is Full Thrust, simply because the later supplements did so much to revise it. Dirtside is pretty self-contained and apart from house rules has stood the test of time.

Also this is pseudo-official: link

G'Day

Without turning trying to turn this into a 'new editions' debate it's worth pointing out that all three rules sets do hold up well. There's room for a few tweaks here and there but hardly the need for a completely new rewritten edition.

Even Full Thrust with all it's revisions via the fleet books required a simple consolidation. Full Thrust, More Thrust, Fleet Book's 1 & 2 into a single PDF. Something Beth did a number of year's ago, but of course this was just for personal use which is why you won't find it posted anywhere.

Cheers

Derek

I have to agree they seems to have stood the test of time and alot of the house rules and new vehicles, and compatible new campaigns, Ect has kept it fresh. Robert

Some people were working with Jon on a revised DS3 rules system; It's out there in a few hands, but form what I hear, the improvements in the playability and so forth ( Close Assault is a lot less cluttered I understand) the new design system has became somewhat . . . Daunting to those with limited math skills. Mostly due to being able to tweak the armour levels on different facings of a vehicle, and including new locomotion types such as pedipods.

I'm sure there will be people willing to put their hands up on this . . . :)

Covert Walrus04 Mar 2013 2:46 p.m. PST

Kaoschallenged, I like those ideas! The heavy PA and Jump Troops especially, as they look like they do what's needed without being over/under powered or costed.

And, of course, not forgetting Ken Pick's suggested rules modifications so you can do the Traveller universe with DS2:
