Hi I was wondering if anyone has created a quick play sheet, they can share, for Don Featherstones Horse and Musket rules from his classic book 'War Games' as used for the battle of Plattville. If not I will create one myself Cheers Mark |

Hi Mark We found that most of Featherstones rules can be memorised and very rarely need to look anything up! Jim |

Hi Jim I wanted to use them for my 40mm SYW Plattville Game at Triples in May as it is likely that not all players will be well versed in the rules. Going to add a few modifications though such as your idea of artillery only using single D6 for casualties for ranges over 2 feet. Do you have any other rule modifictions you can suggest. Mark |

Well if you must, my own Civil War Rules "Magnolia's Mint Juleps N' Gritz" are an abbreviation and condensation of his Civil War Rules, and are on one page two sides, whole rules, 12 pt Times Roman Bold. It's the same rules but without a lot of examples and verbage. If you want send me your snail mail to sigurd@eclipse.net and I'll send them to you. |

There are only two significant changes we have made to the Featherstone original rules. One is to allow infantry and dismounted cavalry to fire in 2 ranks. This makes the battlefield twice as wide. Second is to restrict artillery to one dice for infantry casualties at over 2 feet but also we make our batteries two guns strong. They are very deadly at 2 feet and under still. The third change which we have yet to make is to replace the morale rules entirely and we are proposing to use those from 'On To Richmond'. We haven't playtested that sufficiently yet. Keep an eye on my blog as I will report there! jim-duncan.blogspot.co.uk |
