I wanted to try building a ship, and picked something offbeat to compliment my mostly plastic 1/1200th fleet:
Kinda crude compared to the plastic and lead ships, and I can't paint it until the weather turns, but it's my first try since I made a 1/700th Wichita out of a smaller Pennsylvania model in high school (30+ years ago). (and I'm purposefully not telling you what it is ) I've got the hull and turrets for the HMS Delhi, I think that'll be next

Good work. Looks like the "Averoff." |

Not bad at all. Good job. You'll get better as time goes on. |

Nice model of San Giorgio, as she looked when used as a floating battery in Tobruk. I assume you plan to paint her a sand yellow color (with the top halves of the funnels gray), as she was then. MH |

OK, I see the AA forward now. Interesting model. |

Yup, the San Giorgio. They had her rated as a coastal defense ship, though she started as an armored cruiser. My rules give players one battleship, two cruisers or four destroyers, so I'm pairing her with the Prinz Eugen. I picked the San Giorgio because I thought her turrets were cylindrical, and didn't find out 'til later they were oblong and had the corners cut off. After I paint her I plan on using a craft marker to "busy up" the deck with the little things that tend to trip you after darken ship

According to "Mussolini's Navy", she had 6 boilers removed when she was converted to a training ship interwar, and could only make 16-17 knots. If you're pairing her with Prinz Eugen, you will need to postulate some sort of machinery upgrade
