We do the same, but mount them on 1/8 hardboard instead of the mat board. All of our buildings, parks, etc, are also on 1/8 hardboard so they fit together nicely.

That's pretty cool :) We make and sell some 3D modular style roads too on our website: link They too are 6x6 inches :) Nice job on those though, I like the grid they have on them.
