Hello everyone,

I'm in the process of updating my Imperial Guard army. While the basic Cadian models are pretty and sufficiently dog-soldier esque, I'm hoping to find a little more variety on the webs.

One of the main things I'm looking for are female models. Preferably, something like Defiance games plastic sets, which are interchangable for infinite poses.

The planet they come from could be described as Hoth, but that would be like describing Britain's torrential rains as a 'pleasant summer sprinkling'. It's an ice-bound, extremely inhospitable world, with the people living closer to the core than to the surface.

This is my basis for their uniforms:

Very original, I know! This picture shows basically what I'm trying to get. Heavy padded suits made of some heat-retaining sci-fi cloth. I especially like those thicker patches with the cross-hatching(don't ask why, can't figure a reason myself!) and the vest.

Straight star wars minis could work, but I haven't found much on them. At least, on ones that don't come painted and based already.

The same schtick goes for males too. I figure those will be easier to find in this overwhelmingly male modelling industry, but on this planet, women and men are exactly equal due to the harsh climate. So I need both sexes.

So while I've found a few female conversion kits for Cadians(apparently they are OOP now) I'm trying to find a more winterized theme.

Thoughts? So far my only attempt has been to put female heads from Reaper minis on Cadian bodies.

Yikes.

But I'm sure having a body twice the size of your head will at least throw off an enemy momentarily!

Cheers all,
Drame22

I would say Elysian Drop Troops fit the uniform look you want. Maybe with a different head.

I havent purchased these, but I think you can get away with them having female heads better than the cadians. Unless you need large breast armor or something.

Eureka sells conversion bodies and heads

Drame2225 Feb 2013 1:02 p.m. PST

Hmmm. The Elysians are a bit high-tech for what I had in mind. Are they multi part like normal 40k kits?

This planet is barely clinging to life. No spaceships, no lasers, not even nuclear reactors. So I'm not sure a perfectly uniform uniform(hope that made sense) would work.

However, it is a good back-up plan.

I should also mention I'm trying to avoid buying GW items.

I hope so haywire. I hope so…..

Panda: Are you sure? I browsed their site for a while and didn't find anything. Is it not under sci fi?

Pig Iron…

The conversion packs Panda are referring to are sold under the Laughing Monk label which is linked to Shadowforge, but they are torso and heads only.

Dwartist: Pig Iron has females?? Where!?

Lardie: Oh I think those are actually the ones I mentioned. Thought they were OOP. The ones that look like cadians right?

I have not had time to go much further than this. Will post some pics of the models if I ever get them finished.

Drame2225 Feb 2013 6:38 p.m. PST

Well those models look promising Ken. I'd definitely buy some if they came in multi-part plastic/resin kits.

Lardie the Great26 Feb 2013 10:54 a.m. PST

Drame22 not checked but pretty sure you can still get them.

Drame2226 Feb 2013 3:12 p.m. PST

Wait are these Pig Iron?

I thought Ken posted those and said he hasn't finished them.

Or are you just talking in general Lardie?

Lardie the Great26 Feb 2013 4:47 p.m. PST

Drame22 no, you do have to go through Eureka but they are there order code LM0100 25 aus dollars, got to agree with Haywire's idea but the forgeworld droptroopers aren't cheap they are multi part though.

Drame2227 Feb 2013 4:59 p.m. PST

I found them!

Not what I'm looking for, but very close.

Does anyone know of a multi-part star wars kit for rebels? I know they have those lame prepainted rubber ones, but it seems weird that a franchise that huge doesn't have at least one kit.

alien BLOODY HELL surfer28 Feb 2013 6:41 a.m. PST

they don't, all you have are the old true 25mm oop WEG ones, or the pre-painted WOTC stuff. Oh, there are the fiddly, expensive models of stormtroopers someone bought out, they are nice but not much of a range. someone (other than GW) would ideally get the license and do multi-part plastics of rebs, stormies, imp army/navy etc, but might as well wish for GW lowering prices and bringing quality control to Bleeped textcast(TM) whilst you're at it :-(

Lardie the Great28 Feb 2013 1:07 p.m. PST

I think that was the problem huge franchise=huge licence fee, for the hoth rebel look, as said before the forgeworld elisyian droptroopers are probably closest, multi part (so leave off the shoulder pads) and do some head swops. The multi-part stormtroopers are now OOP as Knight models didn't renew the licence. One other idea is the old leading edge minitures tech troopers from T2 again won't be cheap and they'll be on the small side.
