Hi all,

just want to show some of my favourite greeks from baccus, the armoured hoplites in attacking positions. All figures are 6mm, and if you put a lot of them on a base it looks quite good.

I'm working on a 40 figure 28mm Greek phalanx just now. I will not be distracted by another scale… but your wonderful figures have really tempted me.

Great stuff … shield designs on 6mm figures … thumbs up!

How big is that base and how many of those little guys do you have on it? 200?

taskforce5820 Feb 2013 3:14 p.m. PST

Baccus infantry figures are 4 on a 20mm wide strip. Looks like he has 6 strips wide on the base, so I'm guessing it is a 12cm wide base, probably for Impetus. At 4 ranks deep there should be 24 strips (96 figs) on that base, equal to one pack from Baccus.

Thanks a lot for your comments.

To paint this I use an optivisor.
The base size is about 10 to 8 cm, and taskforce58 is right, I put all the figures from on baccus-pack on, so that's about 96 men (plus some casualties) for the greek.

6mm allows to have lots of figures on the table and to have armys that look like real armies. But it depends on what you like. With little figures you lose some detail.

But I prefer the mass-effect!!! And there is a lot of detail on baccus or ADLER 6mm-miniatures or on ghq vehicules.

Peter Barry is an evil dude.

They look very good! A real impression of mass.

sumerandakkad01 Apr 2013 2:09 p.m. PST

I like the variation of the theme on the shields which makes the units look a unit. Nice painting and basing.

I didn't know about Rapier until now! Will definitely give them a try. Looking for an alternative to the Baccus cookie dough cut out and one pose suits all approach!

Fireymonkeyboy09 May 2013 12:48 p.m. PST

That looks fantastic!

Rhysius,

Have you had a good look at our resculpted Greek range? Believe me, there's a lot more than one pose in there!

Those are really pretty damn impressive!

here are the superb poses of the new greek Phalanx from baccus, looking good en masse.

I do not understand the "cookie cutter" comment. I have the "old" and "new" Baccus hoplites and both of the Rapier codes. I like all of them; they all mix well and break up the monotony of the hoplite formations.
I don't think either line is more or less "cookie cutter" than the other. The older Baccus line may be more static than the new line or the Rapier line. The hoplite command in the Rapier packs are more animated than ones in the Baccus pack but that can be compensated by mixing in some of the foot from the Greek Generals pack.

Hi,

after a long time (summer is no time for painting) I have finished 2 more bases for the greek army (phalanx no. 6 is on the way).
All figures on the new bases are the old sculps from baccus (I bought a lot of them some time ago, now I have to paint the old stuff before buying new ones…).

And now I want to paint something else before going on with the greek army.

Thanks for looking,

Beautiful work!

Will they eventually be pitted against other Greeks, or are Persians their future opponents?

I'm currently working on 6mm Romans and Celts (Baccus and Rapier) and having a lot of fun with them.

Michl Mauser08 Nov 2013 4:24 p.m. PST

Hi Pattus Magnus,

the opponents for the greek will be the Persian some day…

HarryHotspurEsq09 Nov 2013 4:59 a.m. PST

Looking really nice. Baccus Persians paint up pretty well as well – although mine are in Seleukid service now.
