Heya folks, I'm looking for a piece of artwork showing a pterosaur (really, any anatomically accurate modern representation) of a pterosaur perched on a branch. In fact, I'd like this pose, exactly:
BUT – from the front! I can't figure out how the anatomy works with only this side view. I've been Googling for days, looking through tumblr, Mark Witton's photostream
all with no luck. Anyone have any help? Maybe snap a picture from a science reference book? I'm stumped. Thanks in advance! -Alex in Alaska |

looking through
Mark Witton's photostream If you can't find it there I'd say there's a pretty good chance it doesn't exist! You've already been to Deviantart and Jaime Headden's gallery
tried John Conway or Doug Henderson? I'm not sure if they've done anything like that. What's the block with the anatomy? It seems like a fairly standard modern image of a standing pterosaur. Body tilted a bit more towards vertical, legs drawn up, arms further back. Can you extrapolate from more landbound anterior views? It looks like Jaime's already got a couple, particularly that speculative nyctosaur. link link |

Not quite, but maybe this'll help? link I spent a lot of time looking through Dougal Dixon pictures through Google. Dixon is my favorite dino and speculative biology illustrator. Many a beast from his 'After Man' book was found in our post-apoc rpgs in high school. |

Dougal Dixon's stuff is great! I've got a couple of his books, it's sad that so many of them are OOP. |
