I ran into David yesterday and he told me about the plastics project, which is moving ahead. His big problem all along was production: having a full time job, needing about five minutes per vehicle for production, and only having 700 square feet of shop/storage space, which made everything very difficult. As he said, with plastic, five minutes of production is 100 kits! They also have box manufacturing lined up in China; plastics will most likely be done domestically. Most importantly, David has a project manager for the whole thing, including the Kickstarter campaign, to make sure that everything makes financial sense and that the higher-level KS "rewards" don't break the bank. You may be familiar with KSes that weren't thought out correctly and the people behind them couldn't meet their obligations, particularly with the "free gifts." Anyhow, David figures that he can do all of the shipping without a big problem; he's working out warehousing. Being able to concentrate on design and getting the kits out the door will be a lot easier than doing all of the resin production himself. |

Good News. Always liked his 28mm kits, and he was a very decent guy to do business with. |

Looking forward to it. I know he has been talking for a while about a KickStarter project. |

The best part of the (hopeful) Kickstarter is that he has someone knowledgeable working as project manager. Few sculptors or game designers are really good businessmen (not "none," but you don't become a sculptor to work on business plans). Keeping the money side realistic is the best way to keep deliveries realistic. |

That's terrific news, there were a lot of new kits in progress I wanted, actually there were a lot of old kits I wanted as well. |

Wish him well on getting this off the ground. I really tried to get some of his 15mm years ago, but as usual I was to late. |

I remember seeing David at a con in Anaheim a loooong time ago. Just so happened I had I think seven of his vehicles (Komodo & Gecko's) on my game table, he was interested and very courteous and appreciative of the use. This was about a year before he suspended production, so quite a while ago. Even then, he was having difficulty meeting demand, and knew that he was disappointing people – he was a one-man operation. He related to me that he could not attract a decent apprentice to teach the craft and shoulder some of the load with the lack of volume in sales and price points he was selling at. If he could get decent, interested help (that treated the job as more than just a paycheck), or had enough orders to warrant making it his full time job, or if he ignored his conscience and charged much higher prices to make up the difference, things might have been different. And maybe one of those three things has changed enough with the economy in the tank that he can make another go at it

What everyone else said! DLD shut down just as I was getting into 15mm sci-fi and that was very saddening. I'd welcome his stuff back in either 28mm or 15mm. |

hopefully he will payback those of us that never received our product during his previous failure. I know I could use my $130 USD for which I never received a thing. |

He had nice tings indeed. I wish him well. |

DLD back in production, really? I've read that several times before. Great products that never were able to be delivered. I placed an order with him for 6 or 8 vehicles, can't remember now as it was years ago. Sent the cash in, never received any returns to my phone calls or emails and finally cancelled the order after 4 months. I did get my cash back, but just could not get the miniatures delivered. I had to go with a different company to get my 28mm Sci Fi vehicles. |

A link to the kickstarter would be great, before it runs out of time. |

Hmm, anyone have any recent contact info? |

You have plenty of time as there is no Kickstarter. |
