Hi everyone, I was at Dollarama (Canadian chain) looking for random bits to use for terrain when I noticed these in the toy section:
They looked like they'd scale pretty well with 15mm (for BT sized mechs, anyway), so I picked up a set. Here's a shot with one next to a CW IFV and an NVL trooper:
The joints are all ball-type, too. Even the head! Should be no problem to pose and glue in place. There was also an assortment of hand weapons included. I think I'll be going back for more

Oh, and that IFV isn't painted
It's my airbrush test model! |

That looks pretty good. I'll have to keep an eye out. How much was the box? |

CW, I cobbled together a remote weapon station from a 1/35 rifle and a few pieces from the bits box. Nothing too fancy. |

Very cool find. With some aftermarket hands, detail bits, and a matte paint job, those things will rock. I believe I saw similar toys in the non-brand toy aisle of my local Walmart a few years ago. The ball and socket arrangement is what stood out to me. Best, JBR |

Those are really nice. I've been looking around on Amazon, Aliexpress, and Chinagrabber, but can't seem to find anything close. There's a couple of that set in expired listings on eBay, but nowhere else. SpleenRippa, you might as well go buy them out and sell them on this board. :) -Chris K. |

I would think that the whole "dollar store" theme gives the price away

I would think that the whole "dollar store" theme gives the price away
. Or the bright green $3 USD price tag in the upper-right corner of the package

Thanks SpleenRippa & mechaphile, I will have to check out my K-Mart or Walgreens for those. |

I think these are from the same manufacturer as M.A.R.S. Heroes, no? I have some of the "heroes" but they aren't as nice. Are the hand weapons sorta flat or are they beefy? |

I think I saw something similar advertised in Marks and Spencers Christmas gift catalog in the UK. Never saw them in store or on the website. |

Coyotius, The weapons are fairly flat. No 40K Bolter bulk here. |

Great find! Buy enough for everyone lol :) |

Coyotius nailed it
maybe. These are definitely molded in the M.A.R.S. Heroes Megabots tools. Here's a close look at the original toys: link There are M.A.R.S. Heroes Troopers (supposed to be humans in power armor, but the same basic construction) all over eBay. I just bought two 3-packs for $8 USD each. There's a thread over on a G.I. Joe custom figures forum with these same Dollarama items. The buyer claims these are a different (lower-quality) plastic from the original items. So these are either bootlegs, or the HAP-P-KID Toy Company may have sold off the tools. So for those of you in Canada – grab these versions while they're hot. Those of us in the US or overseas? Looks like the originals will keep surfacing on eBay for awhile. -Chris K. EDIT: They're also on Amazon link |
