This's the only Kickstarter that I've ever been tempted by:

warzonegame.com

It appears that they'll make it to their goal…

richarDISNEY15 Feb 2013 9:31 a.m. PST

Nice!
This is what I like to see in a KS. Reasonable prices for lower levels for a reasonable amount of rewards.
Heck, even a pound will get you the rules.
thumbs up
And I am glad to see them go back to 28mm and not that 'odd' scale they did last time.
beer

Charles Marlow15 Feb 2013 9:41 a.m. PST

Yes, that's one of the reasons I'm thinking about it… I think, I'd go with $170 USD pledge; 3 starter boxes, rulebook and background book.

GypsyComet15 Feb 2013 9:41 a.m. PST

"They" in that case being Fantasy Flight. I played the FFG version a few times. Not a fan of the funny dice FFG shoehorns into everything, but the pieces weren't bad. Except when they were.

Charles Marlow15 Feb 2013 9:47 a.m. PST

The FFG incarnation is the only version I skipped.

So I've been looking for something to kickstart since Priestley's game died. Wondering if I get into it, I'll find local players…

Damon.

Hmmm…. I am still interested, although I find the miniatures somewhat uninspiring (nice sculpts, though). Not sure about all of this CARD GAME nonsense…. 12 plastic miniatures and 75 cards would not be my first choice for 30 GBP….

CmdrKiley15 Feb 2013 10:23 a.m. PST

I will be jumping on this.

Grumpy Monkey15 Feb 2013 10:50 a.m. PST

billthecat, regarding the cards, from their answer on Dakka (remember English is not their first language) regarding the cards and if there are "rare cards" like a collectible card game:

Why cards, to open up unlimited spectrum of strategies, tactics and combos in game…

Have 3 types of cards in game, Strategy, Global Strategy and Gear.
Strategy cards can affect your quads characteristic/ change type of weapon (issue different ammo type, or change type of your squad armour) for one Game Round (can be negated by enemy), also they can affect the game mechanic a bit (again in balanced way).

Global strategy, these cards can affect battlefield (for instance you can drop "Fog bomb" which is reducing all range of weapons by ½) or you can boos cover save, or remove cover save or create cover in open terrain ect…. For one Round (can be negated by enemy..

Gear Card, these are basically upgrades to your squad, mainly affecting weapons but also can give squad special abilities (for instance "medic packs" can give your squad Heal Roll – negates effect on Wound, on (1-4 on D20) – 20%) these cards stay with squad until is negated by enemy.

Every card has its value so you have to buy strategy, nnd how? You have Res points (resources), you start game with X number of Res Cards (depending on class of your hero), then every round you can add one from your hand.

Answer to your question is No, but we will make special pack (different drawing only) for peoples who would like to have a "special" issued cards (for example kickstarter ones)

For us, most important is game balance, and having "Rare Cards" won't help!

Regarding plastic, yes we you will get lost of free stuff once we hit "plastic stretch goal".

The movie with game play will be up this weekend!

As mentioned above, the developer just commented on Dakka that when the plastic goal is reached at 70k, there may be some additional figures included.

I'm with those who say the 30 pound (45 buck) level isn't a great deal yet. However, if the # of figs is notably increased at the plastic goal, I'll be very tempted to get the Bauhaus faction.

For now I'm just in for the one pound PDF rulebook/cards.

I wish this new WZ edition would not rely so much on cards. I never liked card-driven miniature games like Warmachine/Hordes and Clan War. But for those of you who like card-driven games or don't mind it, more power to ya.

CmdrKiley15 Feb 2013 1:38 p.m. PST

Warmachine/Hordes cards driven????

Aside from stat cards, I don't recall any mechanics that were card driven.

I see these as upgrades, which are just a handy way to keep track of extra gear, weapons, or other upgrades without resorting to an Army Builder spreadsheet.

CmdrKiley15 Feb 2013 1:39 p.m. PST

BTW, the later 2nd Edition Brotherhood models were pretty sweet, it's those first edition ones that were horrid and best used as fishing sinkers.

CmdrKiley15 Feb 2013 1:43 p.m. PST

the Strategy and Tactics cards sound like the Special Order mechanic from AE-WII. It doesn't sound like it's a randomly drawn thing, just another advantage that is purchased upfront but kept secret from your opponent until you reveal it. That is one of my favorite features of the game.

If it's randomly drawn, I wonder if you get to redraw it throughout the game, like Incursion. As it represents an opportunity that you may take advantage it it's in your hand at the right time. Again another one of my favorite features from Incursion (which makes it stand out as more fun than Space Hulk).

Mooseworks815 Feb 2013 1:49 p.m. PST

Nice.

Yeah, I'm in for the rules so far. Got so many figs already nothing else made me jump on it……..yet.

Thanks,

John

Warzone you say? I'm in :)

I'm liking some of the new miniatures they are producing only the Bauhaus don't grab me yet it might be the poses of the drawings with weapons they might look better I'd also prefer if they had a part of a gas mask coming out of the side and wheres the head spike :)

Bauhaus are the first stretch goal, and I don't think they're quite finished yet.

Now, the highest pledge level is interesting: "Your head and body on a Lord miniature of the faction of your choice". I'm picturing up to five Lords with beer guts.

CmdrKiley16 Feb 2013 2:39 p.m. PST

Yeah the Bauhaus aren't done, the picture up there for the Bauhaus is just a placeholder. They're posting up concept art and getting feedback from forum members on their Facebook page for Bauhaus.

So far I really have to say these guys are taking a great approach to maintaining the original look and feel with some updated models.

I'm really looking forward to what Capital, Imperial and Mishima look like next.

Cybertronic redesign:

doublesix6617 Feb 2013 11:42 a.m. PST

The new Bauhaus are looking much better especially the walker the new redesign is better than the original they had on the site especially if they have it slightly side on braced ready to fire its gun..

billthecat18 Feb 2013 11:00 a.m. PST

But are the cards randomly purchased? That is, if I don't want to pay 45 USD for 75 cards and 10 plastic models, can I purchase the cards (and rules) by themselves and use my own (WZ 1st ed or proxy) miniatures? 'Card mechanics' is generally just a way to lock in buyer dependancy… No big deal if pricing is fair, but right now I'm not seeing it. Even if cards are set decks (not random) will there be 'upgrades' to purchase (see 'codex creep') and will you have to buy the new miniatures to aquire the cards… hmmm…

doublesix6618 Feb 2013 12:01 p.m. PST

FUNDED so we will see it again :)

Judge Doug18 Feb 2013 12:59 p.m. PST

The pdf rulebook includes the cards to print out and use (the 1 GBP pledge has the pdf rulebook w/ cards).

billthecat19 Feb 2013 10:17 a.m. PST

That's great news, thanks. I guess I'm in for some cybertronic then… As I said before, this COULD compete in the FLGS circuit…
