I've bought a lot of PP WWII germans a couple of years ago, and am now getting round to doing something useful with them. At the time, I was recommended to buy either the newer codes, or the earlier, as they did not match up all that well, size-wise. Anyone knows if PP have resculpted the earlier WWII Germans to match the size of the latest codes? I see stuff I 'need' amongst the earlier/lower codes, but would like the mini's to match up. |

I like Peter Pig figures and use them with my Command Decision, Old Glory 15s and Essex regularly. The only time I found a significant size issue was with their Wild West range of figures (they are small compared to other lines), but I liked those figures so much that I based my collection on them despite the fact that their size made them difficult to supplement with other figures. As to the WWII Germans, I have used the Peter Pig with my Command Decision 15s with no problem other than the fact that the Command Decision Panthers are a good deal smaller than those of Peter Pig. If you take a look at my "Germany 1945 Gallery" you can see Peter Pig and Command Decision side by side in pics 16 (officer next to officer), 18 and 27 (PP mechanics next to Command Decision equipment). Granted these are later PP numbers, but I have PP Afrika Korps with my Command Decision Afrika Korps and see no problem (sorry no pics for those). You can see the above mentioned pics at link |

I was under the impression that Peter Pig did a pretty good job of keeping their sculpts all close to the same size. |

The older sculpts are definitely smaller than the new ones, especially in the AK47 range. |

Peter Pig's site is pretty good about providing pictures of his current figures – pull them up and compare them with what you have. If yours are older, advertise for people looking to off-load old PP Germans to supplement them. peterpig.co.uk/german.htm |

It depends which 'early' sculpts you are talking about. I have some of the very, very early sculpts (late 90s) and the figures are fair bit more chunky than the later ones. The all work togther fine on the bases though. |

The practical answer is that there has been little or no resculpting of the earlier figures. However, the main difference is just that the equipment on the newer ranges is chunkier and the heads are bigger. For supposed 'compatibility' you need to be more specific. Personally, although the differences are noticeable, I don't think they make the older and newer figures incompatible, even based up together. Peter Pig do an externsive range of conversion friendly separate heads which you can swap around your units to add variety and further disperse any compatibility issues.
(A Gebirgs unit mixing older and newer PPs with some headswaps in the mix) You can see the bigger heads if you look for them, but I hope it helps put the issue in perspective. Phil P.B.Eye-Candy |

All very insightfull. And the fine picture wraps the issue up. I'll just go ahead and order the pieces I like in the lower codes. As always, this forum has proved it's worth, cheers |

I've just head swapped a load of FOW commandos using Peter Pig heads. It's easy and really improved them. |

I recently mixed together the new Battlefront Volksgrenadiers with Peter Pig miniatures in overcoats and zeltbahn with STG44s and they fit very well together. |
