I read that the British Air Landing 17 pdrs used a modified Morris truck as tow vehicle. Was it a standard Morris Quad, or was it further modified? And if it was further modified, does anyone make it in 15mm? |

Seriously cut down bodywork – Battlefront do one. |

As Dom says: They seriously jalopied the Morris C8 Quad – it's virtually just a chassis with seats. Battlefront do a very nice one as a single-piece resin item – two per pack. However, they switched in October 1945 to the Dodge WC15 Weapons Carrier, so use that for the Ardennes, the Crossing of the Rhine and the campaign across Germany. |

Sorry, that should be October 1944, not 1945. |

There are pictures of the Polish Airborne using them to transport their 75mm pack howitzers strangely enough. There was an interim version of the airborne quad which was just a standard morris C8 but with superfluous equipent removed. If you look at the 20mm SHQ model this shows it fully, the fOW model is the correct version and strangely enough the old matchbox kit had the airborne tractor as its version? |

Yup, I had found it with Dom's info. Thanks for the additional history though. And R Mark Davies, I read '45, but understood '44. Funny how that works. |

There's a nice photo of one here:
And a very nicely restored one here. I've never seen a picture of one before with the canvas tilt attached:
Even cut-down to the bone, it was a heck of a squeeze to fit them in the Hamilcar. It's even more alarming when you realise that the 17pdr is in there as well!
