The Decals in the Battlefront HS 129 kit I bought a while back are crumbling when I try to slide them off backing after soaking. Any suggestions as to what I can do to repair them before soaking? I have been using tap water. Is there some better solution that may help keep decals from crubling? Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks, Mark S. |

Microscale's liquid decal film often works miracles on old decals. |

This is caused by the backing film becoming brittle, so it doesn't matter what sort of water you use. There are a variety of reasons this can happen (age, environment, etc), but Dom's suggestion is a good one. Also you could use a spray clearcoat, like dullcote, to achieve something similar. Damon. |

Thanks, I will try that. Nothing to loose at this point. Mark S. |

Years ago I used varnish to prevent crumbling. |

I'll third Dom's recommendation – the stuff works a charm. |
