Just ordered two armies from Baccus so they are 6mm figures. How are you basing, or how would you base them for FogN ? Ive read in the book it recommends 30mm front x 20mm depth, using this size base would it fit with other rulesets? (if i ever get to using other rulesets ). I havnt got the fiugres or ordered the bases yet, so any advice appreciated. Rees |

I don't play FogN but for Age of Eagles I base my Baccus figures on the same base size as for larger figs – just use more figs; so instead of using 4 15mm figs I use 9 6mm figs Given that the base size was seriously considered in game design I think this is the best way to go – plus given the increased number of figs it gives a great look |

A deeper base, making it 30x30 instead of 30x20 and then packing the figures in to a 3 deep line looks good and gives you compatability with the 60x30 guys by doubling up bases. |

In FoGN its says that the depth of base is merely a guide line as some figures (artillery trains) wont be able to fit the exact depth. With other rules systems does the same apply? i.e. frontage is important, depth less so. Rees |

A lot of rules suggest going with the base size for 15mm troops and just adding more figures. Depth is not as strict as width. Baccus infantry figure strips are 20mm wide and I normally try to stick with base sizes that fit that size ie 20 x 20 or 40 x 20. 40x20 goes well with polemos rules that base on a 2:1 ratio and are produced by Baccus. Both base sizes I have quoted go well with the rules of my choice 'Piquet'. Base size may also depend of your size of table. If like me room is at a premium and a small table is required either go with the 30x20 size or 20x20 and change the ground scale. |

Mine are based 20 x 20 on magnetic bases. This allow me to easily move to different sizes if needed. I do not like idea of splitting the small figures from their metal base :-) |

Minimum increments 20mm. I use 60 x 30mm Polemos bases, but 20mm would work (although a bit fiddly for my tastes..) |

Metal bases and sheet magnet. If you base on 20mm widths that is exactly one strip of Baccus. Don't worry overmuch about depth, bases are always too deep anyway and it rarely matters that much to the game. It's pretty easy then to cut sheet magent for each battalion. So if your FOG(N) unit should be 4 bases of 30m, just use 6 bases of 20mm and remember to do the math right. So oong as the unit frontage is right the rules will work. And based on 20mm frontage you'll be able to adapt to most any rules set out there. |
