Hello folks. I was wondering if anyone knew of any photos showing Pendraken's 10mm Late Romans next to Old Glory's 10mm Goths. Or even if you don't know of any photos, if you have both of these ranges, how do they compare size wise? Thanks for your help – James |

The only OG I have are some ECW figures, but they seem pretty much the same height and bulk as Pendraken Late Romans As the OG figures are on a strip, they do look a bit different than a stand of Pendraken figs. |

Thanks Fred. I don't mind clipping them off the strip , as long as they're close in size to Pendraken's Late Romans. Doesn't seem like there are all that many good Goth options in 10mm. I'm really not crazy about how Magister Militum's Goths look

My take is that the stands of OG figures make them look the same height but in actuality the figures a little bit shorter. As the end result looking at the top of the heads is similar, it probably doesn't matter to you. I have to be blunt and say that Pendraken figures are much nicer in detail. For Napoleonics, however, we find that the canon are superior and that the cavalry is better than their infantry on the Old Glory side; Pendraken cavalry is still nicer though. I believe this holds true for other time periods too. Some of the older Pendraken sculpts have less detail, however. The Late Roman Pendraken are superior to ANY brand I have seen though :-) I like Magister Militum in general; can't speak to this time period. Their Napoleonics are very nice. Pendraken are a better value though. But in 10mm, you have to mix figure lines if you want variety for most periods. AWI is one of the few periods that is close to complete for Pendraken. You might check out Kallistra. They are big figures though! But on separate stands/units, a very nice option if a bit expensive. |

I can't say how they compare with OG, but here are some pics of painted Pendraken Romans.

Thanks for the pictures Hotspur, they look really great. Do you find that Pendraken and Magister Militum match well for size? – James |

I think the Goths are slightly slimmer but not so you'd notice. I've mixed some Pendraken Romans on my Goth stands for a little variety and it doesn't bother me. Not keen on the MM or OG Goths though and I wish Pendraken would do some using the same guy who remodelled their LR range.
Pic of OG Goths. You could maybe get away with using some of the Pendraken militia figures from the LR range and Saxons from their Dark Ages range.

whitejamest, Magister Militum 10mm Irish are ever so slghtly heftier than Pendraken Late romans, but not a real problem at all. Unfortunatley, Magister Militum Early Saxons were so slight and skinny that I never even bothered basing them. They might look ok based up as units but at skirmish level (which is what I have done) the MM Saxons were too small. |

Thanks for the info guys. I've decided to try the Saxon Militia figures that Agent Brown wisely suggests, and I'll also give the Old Glory Goths a try, just to see what I can do with them. I like that the figures in this scale are cheap enough that I can afford to experiment like that
. Thanks again – James |

No worries. Remember to check out Pendraken Vikings as well – they look like nice sculpts. Here are my Pendraken Saxon militia:

Hotspur, those look really fantastic – I bet you can get some great looking games going in a very small area! – James |

Do you find that Pendraken and Magister Militum match well for size? There are (Napoleonic) figures side by side on my blog: link |
