I had a great weekend at the W'burg Muster wargame weekend.

Friday, Malcolm and I played in the SAGA tourney…I placed dead last but Malcolm held up the honor of the Battle Barn and place 3rd! Hail to Lord Malcolm and his Dark Age Vikings!

Then watched Phil and Dan play a Bolt Action game sponsored by Steve and WWPD crew; a Platoon of British 8th Army & a Grant tank vs a Platoon Afrika Korps Infantry & PzIV. The game went 8 turns and was fast to learn and very quick play. The best part of the game was when "Double-Timen" Dan pushed his 8th Army 1LT and his Co SGM into a building and with their Wesley -Pistols took out 4 Afrika Korps SMG grenadiers who were about to storm in and assault the building! Pop-Pop-Pop-Pop! What a sight!!!! I was very impressed with the Bolt Action skirmish game (I ran it once in M'ville and really messed up the rules) After the game I went over to a dealer and bought the Bolt Action USA & German OB books, a M-8 Greyhound scout car and a few more figs to round out the 28mm figs in my collection and two Russian Bldgs. When I got home I also went into the garage and dusted off boxes of 28mm figs that have not seen the light of day in 8+ years. Phil and I talked and we hope to run a Bolt Acton game at the Battle Barn soon using his Brit Para's vs Germans. Steve the WED night guys owe you a road trip the west end too…

Saturday Morning I played in a Spanish Civil War Game, sponsored by the W'burg Legati club, I commanded a Company of Spanish Foreign Legion and along with a Company of Moroccans we fought a tough fight against a British Volunteer (Commies) BTN. The Nationalist captured both hills and a hard fought victory!

Last but not least was the Slot car races. Dan, Hugh and I joined about a dozen others and a watched Joe and his Barn Burners race 1960's era slot cars. The three of us played the role of drunken-rowdy NASCAR fans! And we did a good job getting the spectators riled up especially when the "Funny Gunny" took to the track.

I have to rate the 2013 Muster as one of the best wargame con weekends in a few years! Looking toward the Muster in 2014!

It really was agreta time. I brought my eight year old up Friday and he had a ball playing Gnome Wars. Saturday I played an AWI game and ran the War at Sea tourney and had a wonderful time with both even though I cam ein dead last in the tourny.

It was my 5th year at the Williamsburg Muster. We had a blast. We played a lot of X-Wing fighter all weekend long. Played French and Indian Wars, Napoleonic Spanish Scenario using Shako II and a kid run Star Wars mini-game. Over-all weekend was great, spent with good friends, Beer and BBQ.
