That is what the 1/6th scale hobby is all about. I've done my share of photo shoots as well.

In 2000 I ran a 1/6th scale game at Fall In. It was fun.

neat stuff,

don't you think the jeep driver with the Chaplin looks like cancer man from the x-files

Wow!!

Mattew's game at Fall In was fantastic. I could never understand why we did not have more larger figure games at conventions.

Cool

45thdiv03 Feb 2013 3:07 p.m. PST

James, thank you for that. I had a lot of fun running that game. I still have the figures, but the tanks and terrain sold long ago to a local club that does a lot of 1/6th scale dioramas.

I have been wanting to do another game, but the terrain takes up so much space.

My wife would have a hissy fit if I did anything like that. Not to mention the neighbours as well .

I personally think its amazing.

I feel very poor !
I can't remeber the name of the rule set but it cam eout recently and recomended 54mm figures with prone, standing and kneeling figures for each "character" on a small board. I thought this would be an excellent use of my (I thought ) large collection of action men gathered over yeras from rummage sales and flea markets – I feel completely humbled by this collection – not in the same class !
Where does he keep them ! – How much must it have cost !!

We are not worthy….

@ Green Tiger – Normandy Firefight? I think these are ideal for this

45thdiv04 Feb 2013 7:53 a.m. PST

I plan on using Normandy Firefight for these 1/6th scale figures as well.

Yep that was it – nice to know I'm not the only lunatic who thought of this …

@ Green Tiger. I don't think you are a lunatic .

Can't speak for your neighbours though when they see you in the Front Garden with your Action Men , I mean 1/6th scale models of course.

nazrat05 Feb 2013 8:44 a.m. PST

I played in both games Matthew ran before he stopped doing them, and had a hell of a time. They were really super games!

nazrat05 Feb 2013 8:48 a.m. PST

Oh, and since we are talking about incredible dioramas using 12" figures, this one is worth an afternoon of exploring! These guys are pros, and it's almost like looking at real soldiers. link

Those are very nice Naz .

Unfortunately for me my Mrs would take the mickey if I bought any of these. I was looking at some Dragon 1/6th Scale models in the sales of Germans in the Camo gear etc. They looked very nice but I just got frowns from the Mrs . I wanted to use them as ornaments for the front room . she is not normally against my hobby and in fact she approved of the Porcelain Napoleonic dismounted Cavalry men but drew the line at these.

I guess I can't win all the time !

nazrat06 Feb 2013 7:39 a.m. PST

Oh, I understand completely! I always thought Matthew's games were cool but I never had the urge to get the things myself. Too much room needed for storage and to play in. Plus a woman might think my "little figurines" cute and interesting, but the Dragon models would cause way more odd looks since they are "dolls"… 8)=

45thdiv17 Feb 2013 5:24 a.m. PST

Yes, the storage is rough. I designed the buildings to come apart to flat pack.

My wife helped build a lot of the terrain. She also helped run the game at the shows.

Jerry, I started planning another game, but the cost is too much for me at the moment. I still have the figures in storage, the tanks were sold off years ago. I am glad that everyone remembers the games fondly. I had a lot of fun doing them. I can't believe it has been over 12 years since then.

Matthew.

I can't either! Those were some of my first HMGS cons, too. Good times!
