After a fruitless search online I have yet to locate any info of lorries used by Nationalist and republicans. Could someone in this fine establishment assist me? |

I generally find Ford trucks (a.k.a. Soviet Gaz AA) do the trick, although my guys have a complete Hodge podge including Opels, an old bus, a rather sporty Anarcist Renault, a police van I picked up somewhere and some very early Morris cars. |

link Ford, Studebaker, Dodge & Chevrolets were imported via France and Portugal to the tune of 12.000 vehicles
..logistical back up in the form of mechanics, parts and 'pol' were also part of the package, Texaco and Standard Oil along with the above companies had deals worth a total of $100 USD million by 1939. Republican vehicles included Fords via the Barcelona Ford plant and 11,787 imported Soviet trucks- again Ford derivatives Gaz AA and AAA, ZIS 5 etc. Personally I have a mix of 'early WW2' trucks, especially the older more square looking types as opposed to the sleeker US designs seen in the foto above
. link What scale are you after? I can throw up a list of types suitable and where to get 'em
..if its 20mm? |

Not 100% certain, but I believe to have read that Barcelona's Ford factory also produced Chevrolet 1937 trucks under license. Also, we shouldn't forget Hispano-Suiza medium and heavy trucks, whose civilian versions pretty dominated that time Spains' roads. Main factory located in Barcelona too. Look at their beautiful T-69:
Don't know what precise model it is --but it's an Hispano-Suiza too:
Hispano-Suiza also produced the transport trucks of Guardia de Asalto Police:

On a trip to Barcelona I saw a book dedicated to the subject. The publisher is Susaeta Ediciones. The book is big and contains lots of illustrations. It is in Spanish, but that should not deter you. It costs very little for such a beautiful book, I recall EUR 15. I don't remember the name of the store, but it was a discount shop, something like "Happy Books'' or ''Prima Books" or similar. I did not buy a copy myself (I bought the book on the arms and uniforms of the SCW myself, which is very nice). |

Another vote for Reviresco! I've got American Liberty trucks, Daimler Marienfeldt lorries, Model T Ford cars, vans, and pick-ups, a Mercedes Benz 1913 Torpedo roadster, and assorted Rolls Royce limos from Reviresco, and they look simply fetching alongside my assorted Irregular Miniatures SCW figures Republican and Nationalist alike! Another good source of useful 1930's trucks in 20MM is Frontline Wargaming: frontlinewargaming.co.uk C1 SALOON/ STAFF CAR C2 FLAT BACKED LORRY WITH LOAD C3 LORRY WITH CANVAS TILT C4 DELIVERY VAN These are generic and represent no particular make or model. I have the lorry with canvas tilt and the delivery van. Both are nice with the lorry being a 1.5 ton light truck. The van could be a delivery vehicle or maybe a police van or light ambulance. |
Gaz0045 | 04 Feb 2013 8:11 a.m. PST |
Don't forget the improvised armoured truck from Frontline too (B8)..Morris commercial light truck, their Gaz AA and Zis 5,Fiat 621 and the Fiat car in the Polish range
.I've even got one of each type of the Japanese Isuzu trucks for variation-painted in civvy colours
Irregular have a generic WW1 lorry too (with cargo or mobile flak option!)
Friend or Foe Miniatures have a nice saloon car (BMW ?) and several truck variations scattered thru' their range
a nice Praga heavy truck
. Second City in the UK produce some resin cars and early war tanks and armoured cars too
.these can be somewhat rough in finish but are cheap anyway
. There might be a Hispano Suiza truck in one of the diecast model ranges in 1/76th

Gaz0045, Yep, that is the one. Even the price is the same. They also do similar coffee table size books on the Division Azul and the Condor Legion, if you're interested. |

Hummmmmmmmmmm
What about an awesome, stylish, little known armoured car built on T-69 chassis?
This is the Hispano Suiza MC-36, that lose to the Bilbao the 1935 contest for an AFV for the Guardia de Asalto police. Can you guess what are we at Minairons designing right now? |

The Tenerife Military Museum has a SCW-era Henschel truck that was used by the Nationalists as an artillery tractor. Here's an identical one in Condor Legion colours (the Spanish one was painted sand):

Gaz0045 | 12 Mar 2013 7:43 a.m. PST |

. |
Jemima Fawr | 12 Mar 2013 2:02 p.m. PST |
No, I don't recollect seeing any models of that one. Aren't they the trucks used in Raiders of the Lost Ark, or am I imagining that? Here's the one in Tenerife (in the background):

Was the Opel Blitz Civilian in use by anyone or where just "military" versions used by the Condor legion? Would WWII versions be suitable models? |
Gaz0045 | 13 Mar 2013 7:10 a.m. PST |
I have several Blitz's in use for my SCW forces
..the ones with ersatz cabs (timber framing etc) are very handy for that pre war antiquated look! |
kabrank | 14 Mar 2013 10:31 a.m. PST |
Hi Gaz My Opel Blitz are the hard top Pegasus models. Hopefully they can be used. Ant Idea on suitable Civilian colours? |

Gaz, I can only find a couple of references to obscure kits of the Henschel 33 in 1/72nd and one other, equally-obscure kit in 1/76th: link link |

See the foots that Lluis posted above- paints were very basic compared to present day
. Thanks RMD
