I have started painting my first batch of ships- another bunch in the warehouse awaiting one item for a combo shipping deal!! These are great kits- very nice to assemble with straightforward diagrams (Jap. text tho')
Mine are destined to be 'small'(destroyers/corvettes) vessels for 1/300 space fighter games and overkill air support for ground ops!!! (shades of megalomania heh heh

SCAdian, I just pinged John McEwan to see what's up with Starwar 2250AD. IIRC it *was* being offered not too long ago as a free downloadable PDF on his site, but what John's up to at the moment is anybody's guess
if all else fails, I *may* have a copy floating around that I can give you

SCAdian, contact John McEwan directly through his website and tell him I sent you. He's going to give you an electronic copy *in gratis:* tin-soldier.com
Enjoy!

Well, I broke down and bought a bunch. 24 of the Earth Force ships along with 2 of the larger scale ones (23-25cm long). I found I had about 10 here at the house I picked up a couple of years back already assembled and painted. The 26 are in my Private Warehouse while I decide if I want any others. I REALLY like that feature at HLJ. Thanks, John |

John, the Private Warehouse system at HLJ is really a nice one. I just had four more of the mini kits arrive this week, a small thank you gift for my thesis committee SME in fact intended to "contribute to his delinquency." Right now these classic little kits are IMHO the most economical way to get started in this hobby, or to either start a new fleet or three or in my case expand on existing fleets. On a related note, I cooked up stats for the Garmilas warship (aka "Gamilon destroyer") for Silent Death as a 10k ton DDG. Came out quite the vicious little beast, so much so that I'm going to post photos of the painted models based for SD:TNM with the stat sheet as a free PDF on the Metal Express forum
Stay tuned

Yeah, I agree. Talk about value and nice ships too! I made my first foray into the earth ships. Garmillas are my 2nd planned wave. I already own a few. I figure for a little over a 100 dollars plus shipping I can have two solid fleets of 50+ ships total. I haven't totally decided on what rules yet. However, A Sky Full of Ships already has some stats generated. I will probably use them first since I really like them. The really great bonus is you can pickup dreadnought sized ships for 5 bucks each. I was planning on using them vs my Gzg fleets. But I am not sure how well that would work. I own some of the metal Star Blazers range so could use them for Frigates and perhaps DD's. Other than other ships from the same series, what will you use them with? Thanks, John |

Depending on the ship and how I base it, I will use most for Full Thrust, and others as escort class warships and such for Silent Death: The Next Millennium. I've got three of the EDF Cruiser models (the large kits) I'm in the process of painting for SD:TNM. I already have a number of the EDF Torpedo Destroyer ("Kodai's Ship") and three Garmillas DDGs for SD:TNM, plus some others on the workbench for the same purpose. I posted some photos of my Full Thrust "Imperial Terran Navy" armada on my blog; the majority are repainted hard plastic gashopon for Space Battleship Yamato, with a number of the mini kits added in for good measure (and more to follow!): link
Come to think of it, I just added four more of the EDF frigate as Imperial Terran Navy battlecruisers, so I'd best dig up my camera tomorrow
